Is there a law, or rule as to which someone has to be in the military to be deployed? Like you wouldn't send someone over there w.o MOS training. Basically what is the rule or law for sending "fresh" military members overseas on deployment?

the day you graduate from whatever MOS training you get, you are deployable. the shorter the training, the sooner you are deployable.

There is no law regarding deployments.

They can if they want to, deploy you right out of basic training.

They don't actually do that, but they can.

When you finish your AIT or Tech School, you will be assigned to a unit.

Your deployment schedule will be what ever that units deployment schedule is.

So if your first permanent duty unit deploys 2 months after you finish AIT, then you will deploy with them.

If they don't deploy for 10 months after you get there, then you will have 10 months before you deploy.

People just out of boot camp require additional training for their specialty. After that, they report to their units and are available for deployment.

The only law that I know of is that deployed troops must be at least 18 years of age. A 17 year old can enlist and enter boot camp, but they must 18 by the time they report to their permanent duty station.

As soon as you clear basic they can send you. Technically the moment you contract goes into effect they can send you, but you would be totally useless. There is absolutely no law that you have to be given any sort of training at all. However for soldiers to be useful they usually don't get deployed until they have been given training in their specialties. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen

I don't know if there is a rule or law, but once you hit your first duty station you're pretty much deployable. My husband is activity duty air force and one of his troops got to base in January and was in the desert by April.

It has been my experience that once you are out of your MOS training you are deployable. I know that in 2003 my unit received a few FNGs straight for OSUT. They went to Ft Carson for inprocessing and within 3 months they were hanging with us in the great litterbox.
