OK so about a month ago a got an 8 week old kitten. The lady I got it from said she was box trained and I brought her home. Well I also have a 7 month old male cat and he uses his litter box perfectly fine. because I had to work I didnt want to leave the kitten alone with my older cat so I confined my kitten to my bedroom with a small litter box to use untill we were sure the two would get along and they could use the same. Well when Id get home id let her out and my older cat would want to use her litter box. she would still use it so she obviously had no problem using them same litter box another cat used. Well we just moved and now we have a huge litter box with a roof big enough for mulitply cats to use. It is alwasy kept clean. Our older cat will use it but my kitten wont she will pee and poop all around it and no where else. Its not like she doesn tlike wehre its at. Iv tryed evrything. Shes 12 weeks old now. I got to break her from this habit before she gets bigger.....

I had a problem with kittens and litter, we eventually resolved it by changing the litter to the compressed wood stuff, they love it. I did ask my vet at the time and he said confine the kittens to a very small area where the tray was kept, we kept kittens and tray in a small utility room and if they messed anywhere out of the tray, which they did to start we put a box or something in that place, anything to cover it up, we even resorted to a couple of bricks in one corner. Eventually they got the message.

What size is the litter box, if you have the standard size go to the store and get the disposable ones they will be the right size, or use a small box cut down the sides the kitten is small so think small, place a plastic bag to hold the cat litter in it show the kitten the box, or place her in it and talk to her while she's in there.

Get another litter box. My vet told us that if we have multiple cats, we should have one box for each cat, plus one more, just in case. By that rule, you should have at least 3 litter boxes.

Another thing to try is to REALLY clean the box you have. I don't mean just dumping it out, I mean hose it out, then scrub it very well with a brush with stiff bristles. Then rinse it well, dump in a bunch of baking soda and just a little water, and scrub it again. Then rinse everything, let it dry, and fill with fresh litter.

Finally, scrub the floor around the litter boxes thoroughly. Use a mix of water and bleach, or a detergent with TSP in it, for example. We had a problem with a cat doing this, and couldn't stop him as long as he could smell urine on the floor. I finally had to get an enamel cement floor paint, and painted the entire basement floor. It sealed everything in. and made the occasional accident much easier to clean up.

Usually when a cat won't use a litter box it's because they're upset about something. The fact that she goes all around it tells me that she might be afraid of the hood. Have you tried taking the hood off till she gets used to that particular box? I had gotten one of those automated boxes once, but my older cat REFUSED to use it. He'd go all around it, but not in it. He was totally afraid of it. Once I took it away and got a regular box again he was fine. Hope this helps.

particular that's popular because of fact he's frightened of his new atmosphere and the kitty muddle field has a lid so he can cover. Being a Siamese, his character would be slightly diverse or maybe if very clever, very headstrong too. he will might desire to work out the vet for that oozing eye because it maximum in all opportunities are high contaminated or it might desire to be the 1st sign of an greater respiration an infection. reckoning on his age this adjustment might desire to take as much as two weeks. youthful kittens 8 weeks or approximately, alter extra handy. closer to grownup age, take longer as a universal rule. placed food and water in one section yet no longer close to the muddle field as cats won't consume the place they get rid of. in basic terms provide him time, communicate softly and he will venture out into the super new international of your place.

When i potty trained my cat & recent cats, i would put them in the kitty box every time i went near it, if i was going to the kitchen & passing the box, i will pick up kitty & put them in, even if they didnt do anything, i just wanted them to know it was there. If they messed on the floor, i rubbed there nose in it & then put them in the box.....no so much with poop tho, i would just hold them close to the poop & tell them firmly "no" & then put them in the box.Hope this helps :)
