I'd agree to having a polytheistic religion as the official one

As long as the "official" religion didn't affect laws, I'd be okay with it ... it might become a new political platform though, "If elected I will make Southern Baptist the Official religion"!

You know, the funny thing about that is, the "official religion" would probably pan out to be a lot more liberal than Evangelicals would care for.

Again, like the Church of England. :)

I personally think it would be horrible. With the way the U.S is going, it would end up being some type of Evangelical Church, that would use a literal interpretation of the bible. It would probably be anti-Gay, anti-Immigrant, you name it. It would be one step from making the U.S a theocracy.Bad , Bad idea.

England's an amazing place, muggings on every corner and a stupid law that only puts guns in the hands of criminals.

...or have it brutally shoved down our throats like Iran and Saudi Arabia. The Dominionists are not much better than the Wahabbis or the Shia religious leaders.

No thanks.

Sure. Why not? Would you mind if we picked MY RELIGION as the official one?

Sadly, if we had one in the US, the crazed right wing Christians would make sure the rest of us got eliminated.
