..... do I get jumpy when I hear strange noises at night?
I'm a logical person, I don't believe in ghosts at all, and I'm not religious what so ever. But sometimes when I lie in bed at night in the dark, and I hear 'suspious' noises, I get scared and have not very nice thoughts. I also can't leave my cudboard door a little bit open, I have to shut it completely or i'll stare at it untill I go to sleep...
I feel really daft because I'm not into all that stuff, yet it still manages to frighten me.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Your problem seems to be common.
You should first try to change your rooms and sleeping conditions.
Also sleep only when you are tired becas wen you are tired then you will sleep soon and you wont have time to think about all these.
Keep a small light always on in such a way you can still see when someone comes in.
Do some breathe exercises..
If you have any insects to make any sound then just get a room spray and kill them and sleep sound
Make sure you dnt get any sounds while sleeping.
If you are a music lover then have a walkman and listen to music and sleep
Hope all these will surely find you a best solution :)
Enjoy

Perhaps you should look into Spiritualim a little to take away your fear.
Ghosts are memory replays they have no soul or cannot make any contact. If a ghost is present it is usually because something significant positive or negative has occured and the energy remains. The replay can keep occuring forever.
Spirits who may visit you are going to be close family or friends that have passed and perhaps want to contact you to let you know that they are around and still have an interest in your physical life. They were interested when they were alive and their interest doesnt end just because they have passed.
I am a spiritualist medium and can confidently say they will not bother you at night, why would they? You are going to sleep, they can communicate through your dream state.
There is no such thing as negative spirits, as I have said the ones around you are loved ones. The only negativity and fear is your own and societies. Unfortunatly for many generations we have been brainwashed by religious groups, stating that hell exists and that priests are trained to do exorcisms. I belive this is not true and the day we die we will embrace the unconditional love that spirit offer.
I would perhaps suggest that there is an underlying issue in your life that makes you feel this way. It is nothing to do with ghosts or spirit. It probably stems from childhood and perhaps your Parents/guardians views on religion and the afterlife.
I would like to suggest that despite you sceptcal nature you visit your local Spiritualist Church on a sunday for the Divine Service. Hear the wonderful words of Philosophy, not preeched from a bible but Spirit inspired; you will be able to feel what a loving and harmonious environment spirit creates. In turn this may help to dissolve any of your fears.
I offer these words in pure love and light and give you an Angel tonight to comfort and guide yoy through your stresses. God be with you as we are all a part of the God force energy and will be reunited as one when our time to pass comes.
In love and Light xxxxxxxxxx

Actually Thalia...I read a book by a lady named Mary Roach. She has two books out called "Stiff
The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers" and then another called "Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife". They are very intresting books to read. And makes you think twice about death and what happens after death. The one thing that really blew my mind is it explains some of the paranormal activity and what the response is from hearing noises that the human ear picks up in the way inner ear but you can not hear that is supposedly what frequency in which EVP is recorded well the inner ear can also pick up this frequence and it causes the fluid in the ear to react thus giving you a chill down your spine so to speak. So...I do believe in spirits and ghosts...and yes there are sounds in the night that are unexplainable. If you have dogs....keep them indoors and see if they react to the sounds that you hear...talk about spooky...our dogs react to the sounds that are heard from time to time. And at times they sit at the edge of the bed and growl out into nothing but darkness....Spooky....Oh yeah!!

Your just aware of stuff going on around you.If you live alone maybe it makes you feel vulnerable.I have my family with me, but still get spooked sometimes at night when I have to take the dog out in the dark.I think it's wise to be a bit afraid and not too laid back about stuff. It keeps you alert.
If you have to shut the cupboard door before you go to sleep, fine.I have to check doors, windows, locks etc before I settle for the night.

The ordering of things around you to include noises, drawers and your entire environment is normal.
We are still stuck in this "if it can't be explained it must be supernatural" phase of human development. We're not too far removed from people who got the idea of life after death from watching crops grow back after the winter thaw.
Lots of people are like that. I wouldn't be worried about it.
I don't believe in any of that either. And two people died in my house before I owned it. I've never seen or heard a single thing which made me think THEIR ghosts are here.

I feel the same way, sometimes about very specific places. I think that emotions can stay attached to the physical world, in the form of electro-magnetic energy or some other energy that science cannot yet detect. I have seen some things in my house that science has never been able to explain...

Supernatural beings do actually exist so you'd better start believing that they do. There are some things in life that just can't be explained in natural terms. The good thing is that they're not all out to get you. There are good spirits, like God and his angels, who are there to protect you and you only need to ask them for help. If people didn't believe in the supernatural then horror films would be really boring and wouldn't make it at the box office.

i remember having night terrors as a child...so yes kind of.
the dark is a primal fear because humans as animals are so dependent on sight for everything we do; this is why children don't have to be taught to fear it.
the body responds to a fear, irrational or not, by tensing and quickening concentration so as to respond more quickly if threatened...as you lay there awake listening to these sounds they may indeed seem louder and more sinister....because your body is now relying more heavily on your sense of hearing....
its all just physiological responses; like any other emotion you or anyone has....the feeling is real, but not necessarily the cause

just because you don't believe in that stuff doesn't mean it does not exist. They say that presences or entities have a habit of targeting non believers.... Maybe you are not a ghost chaser, but respect the phenomena, and the people who study it! Who knows maybe someone or something will make a believer out of you someday!

(Deuteronomy 18:10-to-13) There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
(Deu 18:11) Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
(Deu 18:12) For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
(Deu 18:13) Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
