Went to the post office to get a passport and they took my birth certificate, saying that they'll return it when my passport comes. A few months later I recieved a letter saying that they need more information, and they said to include the birth certificate. Did the people at the post office lose it? What should I do?

take the letter back to the post office and explain what happened. it's their mistake. if it really is lost, you can get a copy from the clerk of the county court where you were born.

Interesting, Better start by going to where you started and move forward taking your letter with you. You may need to get a new birth certificate which is easy enough done by going thru the State Government website where you live.

I did mine but before this latest rush and Got everything as promissed back even before I thought I should have with no troubles.

Good luck....

You should be able to get a certified copy from the Bureau of Vital Statistics (or whatever they call it) in the state where you were born. Having innformation like mother and fathers name, attending physician, town, and hospital are helpful.
