Thanks for all the help. I already knew how to do that but I thought there was something else because this program I was using was opening files with text editor.

If anyone has smart ftp and is tired of shitty notepad. Go download pspad Then press crtl+o and change file/viewer editor to
"C:\Program Files\PSPad editor\PSPad.exe"

Yes, you can change it.
Open Windows Explorer (File viewer)
At the top click Tools Menu-->Folder Options
Click File Types tab
Now you can change what program opens TXT files.

Open My computer then go to tools --> folder options and click on the file types tab. Here you will find all the registered file types on your computer and what program is associated with them.

Right click on filename.txt click Open with You'll be given choices click on Choose Program(even if the program you want is allready displayed) then choose which program you want.
Then if you always want that check Always use.
This can be changed at any time by repeating the above.

right click the txt file and go to properties then change the opens with program to the one you want to use

find the item you want open and right click and go to the open with tab and go down to "choose program.." and then you can choose your program!
