What is an American that's a good question I can tell you what it is not some one that burns flags it is not some one that who talks about how much they hate this country it is some one that is willing to work for a living and I hear people say all the time that "if it was not for Mexicans then the jobs would not be getting done" That's crap because when they came here is when things started to get worse for AMERICANS. What do you think would happen if all the Illegal Mexicans were taken out of America things would get better I can tell you that much!!!!!!!!!!

What was and what it has become are 2 different ideas.
Some will tell you traditional values, others will say the freedom(that only goes so far seriously)
If you ask an American, you'll hear so much about the forefathers interpretation,patriotism and other bunanah. If you ask a world view of what is to be an American is you might hear some very impressive responses.
But in the natural most contemporary Americans fail to agree what America is. Other than the average responses like Family, employment, voting, housing ,business, privildges etc but not what it means.....

But usually it is taken to mean anyone who is a citizen of United States, born or naturalized.

An American is someone that is living in the Americas and has citizenship as an American. Get it? You can be North American, South American or Central American. But, I think you may be referring to North American which is a US Citzen you can either be born in USA or have citizenship through paperwork. Understand what it is now? Hope so.....
