A calorie (more appropriately a kilocalorie) is an approximate amount of energy. It is defined as "the energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 kg of water by 1 °C"

That amount is 4.184 kJ of energy. You can't necessarily "see" energy, so you're out of luck as to what a calorie looks like.

When you sweat while working out, its because your body is releasing heat energy. Think of how much heat your body would have to raise the temperature of water. Its a stretch, but a serviceable example to think in terms of while exercising.

A pound of fat contains 3500 kilocalories. Which means your body has to work hard enough to raise the temperature of 3500 kg of water 1 °C. Which means your body has to generate enough heat to heat 924.62 gallons of water by 1 °C to burn a pound of body fat.

calorie is a measurement of heat, it is actually kilo calorie. It measures the amount of energy used to burn food. Its like gas in a car. Say it takes 10 miles to burn one gallon of gas. It would take 10 minutes of riding a bike to burn off 50 calories. Fat comes from fatty foods. fried foods, meat with fat, anything made with or cooked in grease or oil. Check the packaging, it will tell you the fat content. For a diet to work you have to burn off excess calories. Check with your Dr. to see how many calories you need per day. Usually anywhere from 1500 to 2500. Keep a diary of what you eat, and how many calories it contains. You will be surprised how fast they add up. When you keep your calories down, and your exercise up, that is when the weight comes off. Don't forget to drink lots of water, 8 glasses a day! Good luck

A calorie is actually a kilocalorie and it is the energy content in food. It is measured by taking a measured amount of food and using it as a heat source, You measure the temperature increase in the lab that burning this food will give. I remember doing this in a physics lab in college, but don't remember the exact details. Fat has 9 kilocalories/oz and protein has 4/oz. Carbohydrates are also 4/oz.

Calories are actually units of energy inwhich measure how difficult it is for your body to break down certain foods. The more calories the more energy it will take your body to break down food. Fat requires more energy measured in calories to break it down so the body can use it as fuel. Hope that helps!

calories are a concept more or less. they are not something you can see. they are a way to measure the amount of potential energy in the food that you eat. your question is like asking what a watt looks like. you can't see a watt, but it is a measurement of electricity and we can see the effects of those watts.
