I'm religios but I can still plainly see there is plenty of purpose in life outside the Gods. I have kids and a husband and joys and pains. I have dreams and ambitions. How is that no purpose?

You are right. There are many purposes in my life. I think what some people don't realize is that you have to find your own purpose, not just sit back and wait for it to fall into your lap. Furthermore, having only one purpose in life (to serve a deity) does not seem like much of a purpose to me. It would be okay if that was ONE of your purposes....but it shouldn't be your sole purpose.

*Wow...I used "purpose" a lot and now the word seems weird...

Those things (kids, husband, etc) are not purposes, they are things to occupy our time so we won't think about the pointlessness of life. We choose things such as these as purposes because they give us good feelings and so getting good feelings is our real goal in life.

Do you find it odd that your reason for being put on this earth is exactly the same as those things that you want to do anyway? My happiness = my reason for being on earth.

But purpose answers questions such as "why was I put here?" and "what am I meant to do here?'. Obviously, real purpose requires a Creator.

Why do they believe that? Because that's what they've been told, over and over again.

Community mindset, molded by opportunists for conformity and crowd control.

Without recognizing innate human potential and infinite resources throughout the universe, sectarian humanity is always a few steps back from what it could be.

Credit to God and blame to the devil takes away our self-worth as well as our responsibility.

Cowtowing to the people who tell us who God is and what he/she/it/we/you/they want from us is what keeps us from being truly free.

Perhaps such individuals only found value in themselves once they found their particular belief.

Don't you mean "without a God"?

Yes, I do not understand how or why they say that. It's like saying,"If you don't have my values, then you have none.".
