I've had it for several years, since a child but it got progressively worse over the years though I did get help from cognitive-behavioral therapy (cbt) and taking the ssri (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) prozac. Was wondering if anyone else can relate and btw, Tyra Banks has on guests with ocd on her program today.

From someone who has suffered from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) for over 25 years, here are a couple articles about how to treat the disorder:

Yeah i think I do. For me everything has to be symmetrical like with pain and stuff. Like if I stub one toe, I step on the same toe on the other foot. Also, I always keep all my money the same way in order from highest to lowest. And when I'm typing or writing something I always make sure to use commas, start off sentences with capitals, and I get make sure everything is spelled correctly. When I have to wake up the next morning for something I check my alarm clock at least 5 times to make sure its set correctlly. When I'm packing before a flight or a trip, it takes me hours to finish packing because I'm running around r\trying to figure out what I might need or what I might forget. Also, sometimes I get very pissed off if the door isn't closed. If I'm lying comfortably in my bed (this can take alot of time), and I'm about to fall asleep, and I remember that my bedroom door isn't closed all the way, I get up and close the door.
These are just some of the things I do.

I have it but have never been properly diagnosed... I always suspected that I had it but when my doctor put me on Zoloft I noticed that a lot of my symtoms started to fade a little bit... weren't as strong. I had it kind of strong when I was younger, like in elementary school and 7th grade... I would always have to touch every corner I passed in middle school and people would actually notice it, it was so bad. I would have to turn the light switch on and off a certain amount of times before I could enter or exit my room. Then one day, it kind of just faded away... I don't know if it was because I learned how to control or whatnot, but then like 4 or 5 years later it came back A LOT worse. I was always wondering if prozac is a better choice than zoloft.
