My Cat Jack, is about 8 Months Old. He seems to love the sound of paper ripping. He often gets up on the counter and starts biting into a roll of paper towels, and the shreds them. Why does he do this? And How can I make him stop!

Train him not to get on the kitchen counter, not just for the towels, but because if you don't it will cause you no end of grief over the next 10 to 20 years you will own him. If you are consistent and every time he gets on the counter provide some negative reaction, such as removing him and saying no loudly, spraying with water, or hitting with a newspaper it can be done. Keep him out of the kitchen when you are not there to stop him until he is trained. You might even put a roll of towels on the floor for him to play with for a while, and remove the temptation to get on the counter until he is trained.

Put the paper towels away.

Seriously. My cats do this, too. If I leave paper towels unattended for just a few minutes one of my cats is gripping it and tearing away with his back paws. This problem doesn't carry over to paper (I can leave notebooks unattended without worry) so the simpliest and best solution for me is to keep paper towels in cabinets or places my cats don't frequent (like stuck between the fridge and the stove).

Hide the paper towels:) Cats usually love paper. Why don't you give him a roll to play with and/or buy him some more cat toys that make noise. Paper bags may also do the trick. BTW, my cat loves to sit on our newspaper.

All animals like to do that. You need to put them someplace he cant get them. If that is not an option, spray him with water every time he does it.
