All denominations do not go against other denominations. Just like on the news... the 5% of bad ones give the others a bad name.
More to the point... or maybe more to fear ...
I find people to be confused about what their own churches beleive. Everyone needs to get a copy of their own Church's Charter, Mission Statement ect.... Find out the beliefs they hold true and stop guessing what the beliefs are based on reteric from the pastor or fellow parishiners.
You may be sorely surprised. maybe even upset.... I am Church of God... we are much like the Baptist. Please do not think I am blasting a denomination... I am not. It is just that some small, and in some cases some not so small Churches have strayed from their own core beliefs so far that they are unrecognizable to their general congregation....

This is why christians do not agree!
Denominationalism Differs from God's Plan.
God's plan involves all saved people in one universal body, yet
associated together in local churches.
Denominationalism changes God's plan by adding the concept of
denominational affiliations - associations of local churches that
contain some of the saved but not all of the
saved - organizations that are more than just local churches, but less
than the universal church. Denominations were unknown in the Bible. They
constitute an addition, a change in God's plan. Most people can easily
read their Bibles and see that this is so.
What does God think about unauthorized changes in His pattern?
What difference does it make? Will God be pleased with people who defend
the denominational concept?
Galatians 1:6-9 - Any man is accursed if he preaches a gospel different
from what is revealed in the New Testament. But denominationalism is
different from the gospel. It is nowhere authorized in the gospel.
2 John 9 - Whoever does not abide in Jesus' doctrine does not have God.
Is denominationalism part of Jesus' teaching? No! It is not revealed in
His word. Therefore, those who practice this unauthorized change have
not God! [See also Rev. 22:18,19.]
Is God pleased when people follow man's wisdom instead of His?
The church is part of God's eternal wisdom in the Bible (Eph. 3:10,11).
Denominations are not in the Bible, so they must have come from men. If
we participate in them, we are following man's wisdom, not God's. What
does God think about this?
Proverbs 3:5,6 - We must not lean on our human wisdom, but must trust in
God to guide us.
Proverbs 14:12 - There are ways that seem right to men, but their end is
death.
Matthew 15:9,13,14 - Human traditions and commands make our service to
God vain or empty. Everything religiously which God did not plant will
be
rooted up. By whose command do denominations exist? Who planted them?
Not God, but man.
1 Corinthians 1:10-13 - Paul pled with the Corinthians that there be no
divisions among them (verse 10). Do denominations obey this plea? Are
there "no divisions among them"? Surely they are divided, so how can
anyone excuse their existence and say God will accept them?

Is Christ divided (verse 13)? Does He contradict Himself or teach
contradictory things to His followers? Surely not. Such actions would
make Him a hypocrite! How then can all the denominations be truly
following Him and truly accepting His headship when they contradict one
another? It must be true that some people are really not following Him
and that is why the division exists.
how can one become just a Christian and only a Christian like those in the first century and simply be a part of Christ's church? The answer is to discard all of the creeds of men which contain the doctrines peculiar to each denomination. If denominational creeds have more than the Bible, they have too much. If they have less than the Bible, they don't have enough. If they are the same as the Bible, why do you even need them?

In theory, yes. Even attenders at a "non-denominational" church; well, "Non-Denominational" IS a denomination!!

Understand, that it's not about a demonination. Those are made so someone can flip through and find their particular belief system.

The question should really be more of "Why do so many Christians not believe the same thing?"

That is why there are complete books written about this subject!

For the most part we are living for the same things. There are a few cults that are off base. I have a pastor visiting today. He was here some years. We have had an on-going conversation about some minute passages of scripture. We have been discussing these for maybe 5 years now. He sees it one way, and I another. But it doesn't change our view on salvation, or change our belief in Jesus. When I see him again, I will have more scripture to support my view. Again the point is there is only one way of salvation... Jesus.

You are all living for the same thing but you do not all have the same beliefs because you all accept the manmade, unbiblical tradition of sola scriptura, which is a sure road to conflict, confusion, fragmentation and doctrinal chaos. That's why Jesus stated His divine will, "that they all may be ONE". That's why Jesus founded only ONE Church, and stated that all men were to belong to it. That's why Jesus never authorized the founding of any other churches in His name, and in fact warned us against it. This is what happens when you abandon God's will and follow human traditions instead.

I don't see all denominations as being against each other, disagreement doesn't equal being against. In fact, recently, I've been visiting all different kinds of churches.....and quite often I see church leaders praying for all the churches in my area. I also know that in my area a number of the church leaders from different groups get together each week for lunch, and that there is even one group that is specifically for women leaders and wives of leaders to get together.

Yes, all true Christians are living for the same thing. However, many churches and Christians have fallen away, and are consumed with hate, hypocrisy and lies. This is why we are now in Tribulation, with the absence of Rapture. God's children must prove their devotion to the Christ.

We're not supposed to be "all like against each other."

I grew up Catholic, and before this ex-Nazi pope, the teaching I got from the Church was that all denominations who worshipped Jesus had some truth in them. We held that the Catholic Church had "the fullness of truth," but I was taught to respect other denominations and to find commonality instead of antagonism.

Acourse YA is full of very immature people who live for antagonism, such as our infamous Dr. Doris, and the world is full of them too. But making up my mind not to sink to their level, keeps me up higher to Jesus and helps makes peace between all the faiths.

I have no idea. I don't really consider myself a baptist either. organized religion in this country is a joke. Example, over the summer in Montgomery AL, there was a well known preacher who was found dead in his home (while the church was awaiting his arrival to church that morning) with gag balls in his mouth, a dog collar around his neck and a leather outfit on with semen all over him. and a plastic bag over his head. many "leaders" in churches don't exactly lead by example so I don't hold their churches to higher standards. Mine either. my pastor just got caught with cocaine.......we're all human, so why do some of us act like Gods? Nonsense.......bki
