this was an answer to a very recent question of mine about what christians think of atheists or pagans in this forum

"It matters not to me if pagans, atheists, Muslims, child molestors, murderers, whoremongers, hypocrites, liars and thieves post Q & A's. I know thier fate, as written in The Revelation of Jesus Christ."

how many of you truly think that non believers are just as horrible as child molesters, and, how do you think god feels about you passing judgement on these groups of people?

(rachel and primoa and rp are not included in the christians being questioned because i know they are better than that already)

That's probably the most terrible thing I've read in a very long time. I have lots of non-Christian friends, and I wouldn't equate them to being child molesters or murderers. In fact, I wouldn't equate ANYONE to being a child molester or murderer, unless I knew it for a fact to be true (ie, proven through the judicial system).

What alot of my fellow Christians tend to forget is that we're just sinners, too. Yes, we believe that we are forgiven, but forgiven certainly shouldn't imply "superior". They also sometimes forget that we're commanded by Christ not to judge anyone. Any sin we accuse others of committing, we're guilty in the eyes of God of committing that sin. Which makes me wander how many people who are reading this are "guilty" of the "sin" of homosexuality (through judging others) and haven't repented yet .... just a little reminder for the hardcore fundies.

Personally, I think God is more concerned with the nature of our hearts than he is with our actions. And I'm sure he's more than a little tired of everyone down here spreading hate in his name ...

Too many... that anyone could equate people of a different belief with "child molestors, murderers, whoremongers, hypocrites, liars and thieves" really should set off some alarms that this person has lost their grasp of reality.

I do not think anyone could be worse than a child molester. Certainly, I don't think that a Muslim, pagan, atheists, etc, is a BAD person just because of what they do or don't believe.

The Bible has a LOT to say about judgement. When someone tells me they are an athesist, I have not judged them, they have told me........while I can't see the manner of someone's heart, I can see obvious actions, that is not being judgemental, it is calling it like I see it.

I take no pleasure in telling you this, but it is The Bible, not me, that says non-believers will go to hell. That is not my judgement, it is God's.

The Bible does not divide us into the good, the bad, the less horrible, the horrible, the pretty, the ugly, the tall, the short,

it divides us into the believers and the non- believers. If you can't handle that, don't blame the believers, become one.

I tend to think there are big differences between these groups. Jesus calls us to judge fellow believers, not those folks who don't believe - don't judge unless you're ready to be judged (paraphrased).

There is a difference between moral guilt and legal guilt. With moral and legal guilt comes judgment. Some of the these folks require legal judgment by us mere mortals. God isn't saying, in my opinion, that we shouldn't hold people accountable here on earth, for breaking the law. But moral judgment is not my responsibility.

I think Jesus wants me to pray for non-believers, evangelize (sorry) and live a life that is an example to those around me.

Of COURSE I don't believe that atheists and pagans/Wiccans are as bad as child molesters and murderers!

Liars and thieves aren't as bad as murderers and child molesters either.

I don't know how God would feel about that person's answer. I prefer not to try to answer for Him.

Personally I think Jesus would weep over this kind of thing.

I am near to weeping myself that anyone could live with this kind of hatred. ESPECIALLY someone who spews this in the same sentence with the name Jesus.

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

I guess the person who wrote that filth in your question wants to be loved the way he or she is "loving" others here.

****
Really, this kind of thing, a lot of the stuff I read here on R&S is why I no longer call myself a Christian, and why I am unchurched.

I have found for myself that church, and church people, interfered with my desire to follow Jesus' teachings.

I know I shouldn't be surprised that someone wrote that answer, still it does.....

with that being said I hope the majority of Chrisitans don't feel that way. I know I was told once that a sin is a sin and that is that. There is no big sin and no little sin.... so maybe that is where the writer was coming from.... but I still believe that only God can judge each of us. Only he knows what is in our hearts.

and no one knows anyone's fate. No one....

(and finally hugs to Riegan cause she made my day!! )

Sadly I've met many Christians who feel that way about anyone who does not believe in their god.

It amazes me that those same people say that they are just following the words of their god - and that he is loving and merciful

I'm a Christian and I think that's close minded to think that. Non-believers are just like the rest of us, they only try to balance religion on fact, which isn't wrong. God gave us brains to think with didn't he, not to shut out everything. It's their journey to find out what is real or not.

I absolutely DO NOT believe that at all. But I've been told I'm not a "true" Christian as recently as 5 min. ago in an evil email from supposedly "true" Christian - so what do I know.
