Rich in spirit, in the things that are lasting, the better conditionn.
Poor in the stuff of this earth, all the things that distract us from what matters, People and relationships and caring for others because we're so busy getting and keeping the stuff.

With a screen name like "Simple Serenity", I would have thought you would have a firm grasp on this, as there is a lot of value in both simplicity, and serenity........
Our world today places a lot of value on money and the things it can buy. In reality, money is only a medium of trade. We "trade" our money for some thing. Quite often the thing fails to fulfill us, leaving us wanting another thing.......
A poor but rich person, is able to put value on the real thing that enriches us.
Often, my car is the oldest one in the parking lot, but I still have something to drive. My house is not the newest or biggest on the block, but I have shelter. My clothes do not have a label that would get anyone's attention, but my nakedness is covered. No one in my family is an athlete but we all have the strength to get our work done..........we are happy with what we have and place our value in the things that money can not buy. Family loyalty, harmony, our health, knowing any of us would give to the one in need, enjoying a family cookout together.........you get the idea. We are able to enjoy and be thankful for what we do have rather than fretting over what we do not.
Believing in the promises of God, and His salvation, gives me the calmness not to worry, for even though I might never have many "things", I will always have enough. If I never have another thing at all, I still have a place in eternity. While I may be poor in "things", I am rich in peace of mind, faith, contentment, thankfulness and the ability to love and be loved.

First you have to explain rich and poor. Is someone who is rich, just someone who has more than you, and poor if he has less than you.
It's a strange world if you judge people by what they have or haven't got. You should judge them as a person.

It's about being blessed richly by God, no matter how much money or possessions we have.
EDIT: So-crates wrote "By delusionally believeing that, although they are poor financially, they are rich spiritually."
You know, as a Christian, I could also say you're delusional because you can't see that God exists, since it's so obvious to me. But I understand that not everyone gets it as I do, so I respect that. I try to at least be polite when I disagree with someone else's opinion. Why do you have to try to belittle others who you don't agree with? Does it make your ego feel better or something?

I'm not rich in wealth, but I'm very rich in happiness, family and friends. I'm blessed with good health, lots of love and I can go to bed with a clear conscience. I feel very rich!

A good Christian is
"RICH in the love of God, willing to do all he wants us too. They are POOR because the Bible says we are to stay poor, if we want to go to heaven.
Jesus said, "It is easier for a camel to get through the eye of a needle, that for a rich man to get to heaven."

You can be rich in your spiritual life (no matter what faith you practice) and poor in material wealth (or visa versa for that matter).
Job was rich and then poor and then rich. He never stopped believing.

I am rich because all that God has blessed me with (life, family, friends, love, the very air that i breathe) and yet on this earth I have not much common wealth in riches and money.
So in the spirtual sense I am very rich, but at the same time on the earthly standards.. I am not.
