Everyday I see people spending 10 to 20 bucks on Starbucks coffee, or some guy opening up a coffee box and smelling it and loving it. Getting amped on coffee everyday to suffer its downing effects at night. It reminds me of a friend who used to keep a marijuana bud in a jar to breathe its air and savor its flavor.

Caffeine has similar effects to ecstacy, is this drug of the business world REALLY so damn safe that it's okay to have it legal and consumed in massive quantities? Has there been any private research on this matter other than one doctor taking the word of another doctor? I mean they said the same thing about Cocaine a few decades ago, only thing that got us was Rick James.

I think it's a BIG stretch to compare caffeine to ecstacy and cocaine. Caffeine does not cause hallucinations or impaired neural functions. It just speeds up your heart. Also, there are many people who are completely unaffected by caffeine altogether.

Caffeine addictions can be cleared out of someone's system in less than a week... and the "withdrawals" are minor - they do not cause death like cocaine withdrawals can.

And an addiction to drugs last a lifetime. Caffeine "addiction" does not.

Actually 'coffee' has been found to have definite benefits.
The last study I read about 3 weeks ago said it definitely helps those with a familial history of melanoma.

Caffeine is in FAR more substances than just coffee- and caffeine is given to premature newborns.

Taken in moderation, coffee has no more side effects than beer, for instance. And the Chicken Littles who were squawking about it being bad weren't really thinking with a whole brain.

Caffeine is a very strong stimulant with lots of bad side effects. It can stress the heart and cause irregular heart beats. It's a diuretic and can cause dehydration. It can cause headaches from continuous consumption and is addictive so it causes stress and headache from withdrawal.

I agree, it should be cautiously enjoyed like alcohol or anything else.

Coffee reduces the amount of uric acid in your blood stream. Uric acid is what causes gout. Gout is a painful joint disorder, more common in men.Drinking at least 6 cups a day will reduce uric acid levels by about 25%.
