I think the worst thing that could happen would be your wife finds you! (at least I know that would be the worst thing that would happen to me if I left my wife). rofl

Let me get this straight- you want to leave your wife and set up a new home and come out of it with some money, relatively unscathed? Are the emotional implications not considered to be more important than the financial ones. What about divorcing the poor woman? Free her properly if you are going to go gallavanting then at least the finances would be split equally. If you disappear abroad your wife can claim desertion and can claim everything! And who could blame her.

You'd be better off getting a divorce attorney. Or coming to an agreement with her as far as what she will get and then settle it in court. Otherwise it would be abandonment and that would not look good on your part. If I was your wife I would gladly settle for what you are offering. Keep in mind that if she were to file for divorce after you left, a judge could allow her money from your personal bank account.

This is something you need to talk to your wife about and not ask strangers online... If you kids have already left home, that means that you and your wife are up there in the age, and were married for a long time. You can't just spring this on her like that without any warnings.

Sit with her and talk to her and your children.

The most dangerous risk for doing this is to your self esteem and self respect, not to mention looking over your shoulder all the time and risking losing your childrens love and respect. You must sit down with your wife and decide what you want to do about your marriage.Nothing stopping you divorcing and starting over again but do it properly! Your wife may feel the same way and be quite happy to split your assets and find herself a new life/man.Good luck whatever you decide.

You would leave her in a mess! Suppose she can no longer make that mortgage payment, you have no equity if 10K is all there is after expenses of a sale, and she needs to sell the home?

She is also entitled to a part of that pension income. She is probably also entitled to a part of those "personal accounts" as well.

Why the hell not just divorce her.......ahhhh I get it because then she WOULD get a part of all the marital assets where is my brain today?

Hi
Remember that anything that is joint means that either of you can use that account, If you have an account in your name only then only you can use that account, as long as your wife dose not have the passwords , if she dose have passwords to the account, simply change them>

You have obviously given this a lot of thought for some time!
two points to consider.
1- Are you happy with your life as it is at present?
2- Life is too short, dont live with regrets! ... what if.....

After a certain time, you would be presumed dead and they'd get all your shlt. Not to mention the permanent psychological damage you'd do to your children and wife.
