Yesterday my cat was fine in the morning but in the evening the bottom of her mouth, I guess you could say chin, was really swollen and she is drooling. The drool is kinda thick and stringy and she gets irritated if you touch around her mouth. She is also in a bad mood. It looks the same today. I was thinking it may be a tooth infection but could that really happen that fast? Any ideas?

I've seen that three times, especially with the ropey drool, and it's always been a broken or cracked tooth. VERY painful, very hard on the cat.

Don't wait for an appointment down the week, get her in to the vet as soon as you can so she's not suffering. If you had an impacted wisdom tooth you'd be in at the dentist the next day. It hurts cats as much as it does us.

Sounds like too many questions. What kind of medecine? Is the cat sick. Some medecines make cats drool esp. if it tastes bad. Is that the only time the cat drools? you didn't say? If so then that's prob. the cause. If the cat has worms it will have pale gums, and swollen belly or eating a lot in the early stage. Depends on the kind of worms, that's for tapeworms. Other worms may fill the stomach and keep cat from eating like round worms which can kill a cat. Sounds like the cat needs to see a vet. cats also have diabetes which will make them drink a lot. so, to diagnose you need to have the cat seen by a vet. ASAP. Cats drool if they have bad teeth or thyroid problems. The vet will know so much faster than you asking here. Please take the cat in. You didn't say how old or what the medication was for or where you got it. Hard to help. Sorry.

sounds like a tooth infection. yes it can flare up that quick. I'd call the vet asap, if it's a tooth infection your cat is in a lot of pain (ever had a toothache?). the vet will probably prescribe some painkillers (there's a very limited selection of painkillers that are safe for cats) and antibiotics and want to see the cat again in a week or so when the inflamation has gone down to decide if the tooth needs to come out.

Yes, it can really happen that fast. Or it may be an absess from a wound she received. Either way you should get her to the vet as soon as possible.

You should call the vet and ask someone there about it. they would know what could be causing it and could either give you advise on what you can do or tell you to bring her in for medical attention.

She could have been stung in the mouth by a bee or wasp. Get her checked by your vet.
