I own a late-model Pioneer AV receiver that has a pre-amp output for the center-channel. Instead of using the receiver's center-channel power, could I connect a small amplifier to this pre-amp jack? I'd like to power two bigger speakers instead of the average output of the traditional center speaker (and, no, changing the center channel speaker adjustment from Small to Large doesn't do much at all).

Any advice will be appreciated - thanks!

Yes, the external amp would have about two hundred watts total, as opposed to the receiver's internal amp outputting 100 watts.

Yes, it will work. Just make sure you get an amplifier that has a MONO switch so you can feed the center channel audio to both speakers. If it doesn't, then you'll need to purchase a Y cable to feed the single channel from the Pioneer to both LEFT and RIGHT channels on the new amp.

Hope this helps!

I don't see why that can't be done. I'm assuming the small amplifier you mention will have a higher total wattage output than the Pioneer AV receiver has for the center channel? Otherwise what you propose to do would not make any sense.

the amp gets a sign from the radio. if it particularly is a radio with RCA pre-outs then that's low ability meant to hook up with an exterior powered resource, like an amp. or you ought to use a line out converter, comparable concept regardless of the undeniable fact that it faucets the particularly speaker twine and converts the sign from hi bypass to low for the amp. using y splitters is wonderful. on occasion there is not any way around it. use sturdy high quality ones. ward off something ma audio. now what precisely is an exterior doorways speaker amp? u advise an amp for the door audio equipment? i might advise an element set. a sub might od wonders for bass and sound fill. I run factor audio equipment and a sub all off a 4 ch amp. 2 channels to audio equipment, 2 bridged to the sub.

For what purpose? A dual center application?

You would at a minimum want to upgrade all three front channels for imaging.

If you want improved sound then get a multi channel amp to integrate to your existing receiver.

If you try to power two speakers with one channel you will have a really heavy load on your amp, not recommended.
