There is a difference between Biblical Law (or Judaic Law) and God's Commandments. Paul discusses this distinction in great detail.
While it is true that Christians cherry-pick from the Bible, I *rarely* see accurate examples given by militant atheists. What usually happens is the "debunker" demonstrates his/her ignorance of Biblical concepts, and then throws a fit when anyone points that out, resorting to name-calling and fingers-in-ears childishness.
As an atheist myself, this disturbs me.
Go find a real example of hypocrisy, then ask your question again.
It's more often the case that so-called "moderate" Christians cherry-pick the "love everybody" verses and ignore the ones about homosexuality and witchcraft. If the Bible were true, moderate Christians would go straight to Hell for their "tolerant" lifestyles and for practicing witchcraft.

Homosexuality as a sin is confirmed in the New Testament. Cutting off of the hands was the OT law for Israel at that time, and not any more. A simple reading of the whole Bible clears this up. Nice try, though.

Homosexuality is condemned in both Testaments and under every covenant. The other arcane passage you quote referred to a one-time dispensation, the Jews under the Law.
Bottom line is most people just cherry-pick the verses they like and ignore the rest, and somehow manage to feel justified. Amazing.

because religion is the reverse of society.
society birthed religion based on its social norms and idioms way back in the day.
today, those norms are through the evolution of society, outdated or flat out illegal.
religion however is slow to change as it erroneously purports to be the guiding force of society and people's ideas. If this were true then we would still be stoning blasphemers and selling our disobedient daughters into slavery.
however mankind's social norms and idioms and society and laws have evolved beyond those written 1000 years ago and as such those "scriptures" must change as well.
instead you have a bunch of people trying to say that those scriptures mean something and are more important than the moral bootstrapping of human conciousness to realize that certain customs of the bible are just plain wrong, and immoral.
EDIT: the "eunic" thing you mentioned, was dropped because as a society we stopped "clipping" our bodyguards and slaves. It was probably written more as a reference that masters should enter the house of worship alone and without bodyguards or servants. Implying equality among pauper and rich alike.

The Old Testament is the old law. The New Testament replaced it and is what we follow today.
Another thing to remember is that God's law, or at least the principles behind them, never change.
Homosexuality was a sin then, and it is now. I'm not discriminating, I'm not hating, I didn't write the book. God made Adam and Eve, and it's obvious that's how He intended us to be.

there is not any "unique text cloth of the Bible". each and every faith commencing with the Roman Catholics began to take particular codices of the notice and those clergymen Canonized them as being the real notice from God. How can that be while guy did the choosing and selecting of that have been the expert "notice of God" and something grew to become into rubbish. guy won't be able to make that determination and that i don't care what sort of "humorous hat" he wears. My philosophy is Kindness

it's old covenant/testament vs new covenant/testament......it's actually mention as part of Jesus teachings throughout the Gospels in the new testament.......
now while it's trust some "Christians" and/or "bible thumpers" will pick and choose what they want to follow, that doesnt mean that the faith itself is contradicting itself.....it just means some ppl are missing the point altogether or being self-serving.....also, keep in mind just because you're a Believer/Christian/etc does mean you're without fault

Steve--Jesus used scriptures from the OT. So I wouldn't say that this is outdated. Some things changed when Jesus came and died for us. [for ex.- we no longer have to make burnt offerings and sacrifices.. but in the OT it said that they must do this]
