put him in a bedroom with toys, litterbox, food and water let him stay in there for a few days to weeks till he feels comfortable go in there and play with him. let that be his place. don't bring lots of new people over all at once. let him get use to his home first. if you have people over that want to see him let them in one or 2 at a time.
think of it from his prospective. he was born, and then abandond, lived in a small cage at a shelter and then was adopted, brought to this new place that is soooo much bigger than his cage new faces, new smells new everything. it's pretty scary. just take baby steps with him. make sure you get him to the vet in the next week or so to get him checked out and his series of shots started and all.

It's likely a combination of things. Anxiety from being newly separated from mother and siblings. Anxiety about new surroundings, different food, unfamiliar sounds etc. Anxiety about being handled by people. etc etc. Find a real warm secluded place to put the kitten's sleeping box/cushion/ and don't disturb it whilst it is there. Feed it not far from there and make sure you and only you do this. Do not touch the kitty whilst it is eating but make sure you stay close. The kitten will soon gain confidence and allow you to handle it more and more. Let it bond properly with you before introducing it to everyone else.

Maybe he is still too young and not familar with humans yet? kitten is like a human baby, need alot of tender loving care. Be patient with him also. Give it more time =) unless you really senses something not right, maybe is time for you to bring him to the vet or get some animal help.

just give him time. it's probably partially the new place. he probably wasn't handled much as a young kitten, so is unused to human contact. just be sure to give him a lot of attention. try playing with him, the fun of it will help him forget that you're a huge scary thing, and then you could try brushing him and giving him little treats a piece of a hotdog. that will get him to associate very enjoyable things with being around you. just give him time. he probably won't warm up to you over night.

By talking to him and petting him, stroking him etc. Give him A few drops of Rescue Remedy in his milk or water and he will be OK.
Rescue Remedy is a Bach Flower Essence mixture and is available at many health food stores and or online.

Give him time. Everything is BRAND new to him, his surroundings, family, etc. When we moved it took our 2 year old cat at the time 1 week to adjust. She would shake like crazy, and she's even pant like a dog. She was scared, sights and scents weren't familiar.
Give him time to come around, he will once he adjusts.
