Yes, apparently allergies can be developed at any time of life. Sometimes you need several exposures to an allergen before an allergic reaction occurs. This is particulrly true of allergies which can become serious such as nut allergies and sting allergies. My husband developed a severe allergy to wasp stings in his late forties. He had some stings in earlier life, then he had one which produced a marked reaction, a large red patch much bigger than would be expected, with some feelings of being unwell. Two weeks later he was stung again and developed, within seconds, shortness of breath and tachycardia (rapid heart beat), he now has to carry adrenaline because apparently he is at risk of anaphylaxis if he is stung again.

Yes, I developed a really severe reaction to egg whites. I used to crave eggs all the time and could eat them no problem, now I can't even touch one if it's not in its shell. I have had to have extensive tests as to what I react to and now have an epi-pen in case of accidental ingestion. I had to use one once and they really prove to be a life-saver if you get anaphylaxis.
Your body suddenly sees the thing you eat or use as an "intruder" and sends the defence signals against it and that gives you the reaction in whatever way.

Yes. Before i had my son years ago i had a tarantula. I held it quite a lot, after i had my son i became so allergic to it i had to sell it. Also after stopping smoking i developed really sensitive skin on my face which wasn't a problem when i smoked.

Yes... I'm allergic to so many things and only one form of medication suited me... from the 'cillin' family... but because I've not taken antibiotics inside 30 years... I reacted badly to it... when I needed it a year ago... so... now I'm totally snookered:-(
