What is not true about the above question? Why do you do what you do? Out of FEAR from going to hell. Out of FEAR from not fitting in at your church. Out of FEAR from having people criticize you and gossip about you. FEAR is a way to control you. That doesn't sound very loving to me.

Foxfamily..the reason why it is controlled by man is because it was created via man.

Jess, you have to BELIEVE in the Devil to believe what you just wrote. Since I don't believe in the devil I see it nothing more than a cop out to control people. I do appreciate you answering the question though.

It's all doublethink. Religion is the original 1984.

There is no god that people know of.

There is only speculation and blind faith because for some reason people need this.

The bible and the man made god rule out of fear because that is what all empires do.

People that believe in god and religion are utterly and completley moronic.

People for some reason need to be controlled and told fairy tales about heaven.

These "Prophets" that made up lies about talking to God profited. Religion is the biggest scam on earth.

I don't believe in the "fire and brimstone" type of Christian preaching about God. I do believe that God is love. If God is love, then he would not set up a system where the majority of humans will fail and spend eternity being tortured in Hell by evil beings. Sorry preachers, I'm not buying that irrational nonsense.

I believe that we are reincarnated until we reach spiritual perfection, and then we will no longer have to be reincarnated on Earth any longer. We will spend eternity in heaven. I also believe that if you live a good life, and help other people that you will be rewarded for that behavior. Those who abuse, exploit, and injure others will be punished for their behavior by being reborn into difficult circumstances.

As you sow, so shall ye reap. That is the truest saying in the Bible.

It's (some) churches, and preachers that rule out of "fear"..... that's their control over the "flock," because then they'll feel insecure and "need" them. (Sorta like our government)!

No need to fear "hell" ..(which is only thinking (or acting ) as if you were"seperate" from God. God is closer to us than we are to ourselves. So think and act as God or Jesus would.

No need to fear "fitting in with your church" when your church is everywhere you are. It's in yourself.....the Light of your soul.
The Light within that Light is God.

No need to fear "criticism" - as we are all learning. We are all on the same journey.......there are always those in front of us, or behind us.......but the destination is the same...(if you stay on the path to God.

Just so you know you seem to be confused. Fear is of the devil that's his tool not God's and it isnt that you should fear going to hell but that you should desire to go to heaven. You were right about one thing God is love. God is merciful and gives grace to his people however those who disobey well they maybe should be afraid but God can only hold back for so long.

When the word "fear" is used in context to God I do not believe it is in the way we define the word fear. My belief is that when we are told to "fear the Lord" or "fear God" it is meant that we should show reverence or respect. Not fear him as in he is going to punish us or destroy us, but I do have a great respect for my God.

He doesn't. Man does.

Unfortunately, it's "man" who lays down God's rule to many. The main "fear" as spoken of in the bible is not "afraid" fear, but "reverance" fear.

There is one place in the bible, however, where it says, "...work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Philippians 2:12 KJV) But this is the fear of losing eternal life.

We as Christians (should not) live for God out of fear, but out of LOVE for Him, Who first loved us!

Those who do live for God out of fear will only last a while.

Now, to offset the "if God is love" mentality that is twisted by mainstream media, and mainstream Christianity...

God is love, but Psalms 97:10 says, "Ye that love the LORD, hate evil:"

You must have a balance to the "love" notion. God is God, and He is sovereign. Right now, we live in the "grace" time period, but there will be a day, where vengeance, wrath, and judgement will be poured out.

Right now, you have the opportunity to live out of love and by His mercy. =)

“Come, you sons, listen to me; the fear of Jehovah is what I shall teach you.”—PSALM 34:11.

Godly fear is wholesome, not morbid. It motivates one to be firm for what is right, not to compromise by doing wrong. It is not like the fear associated with the ancient Greek deity Phobos, described as a sinister god that inspired terror. And it is not like the fear associated with the Hindu goddess Kali, who at times is depicted as bloodthirsty, using corpses, snakes, and skulls as ornaments. Godly fear attracts; it does not repel. It is intertwined with love and appreciation. Thus, godly fear draws us to Jehovah. Deuteronomy 10:12, 13

Even Jesus Christ had godly fear. Hebrews 5:7 says regarding him: “In the days of his flesh Christ offered up supplications and also petitions to the One who was able to save him out of death, with strong outcries and tears, and he was favorably heard for his godly fear.” Such godly fear was a quality that Jesus Christ manifested even before he was confronted with death on a torture stake.

So if Jesus had a godly fear, we should too.

Love is a relationship founded on truth. Our relationship with God is not one between equals. It is as if we are children and children are not equal to the parents. Fear of God is awesome respect and properly so. Just as we would teach our children to respect us, God teaches us to respect Him.

God shows love and mercy in ways we understand but also in ways we can never understand...such is the mystery of God. Revelations that make us fear God are because he loves us and does not want us to get distanced from Him because distance from God is pain, misery, suffering....HELL. All is mercy. Sin is distant from God and like attracts like so sin attracts pain, misery, suffering...

The essence of God is love...

"Truly, God is mild, and is fond of mildness, and He gives to the mild what he does not give to the harsh."
"God is gentle and loves gentleness."
"You will not enter paradise until you have faith; and you will not complete your faith, till you love one another."
--- Prophet Muhammad (God bless him and grant him peace always).
