You are right on:
The Bible says "cast your care upon me for I care for you"
When we realize that God can and God cares, then we can trust Him.
And in Philippians it tells us that prayer is the antidote to anxiousness.
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
In Matt 6 it talks about the futility of worry
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
This does not mean that we do not take our own responsibilities seriously.
Rom 12:11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
As the wise saying goes:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can
And the wisdom to know the difference
A good visual can be taken from Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, where he draw the concentric circles of concern and influence. When you focus on you circle of concern, your circle of influence shrinks, but when you focus on your circle of influence it grows.

I rather like the idea that the Lord helps those who help themselves. It is, however, true that the Alcoholics Anonymous twelve step program which uses a similar message of trusting in God, is far more successful in really keeping alcoholics sober than any other method of recovery.
I have known many an alcoholic who claims his/her life only turned around when they realized there was a God and that he could somehow lead them if they turned over to Him their out of control lives. So I have to give credit where credit is due.
Although I am not a religious man, I have seen religion do some people a world of good. I have no problem with accomodating religious people.

Surrendering to God (in my case Krishn) does not mean feeling no urge to do anything and be a fatalist. Leaving everything to destiny or fate, is the practice of the fools. We are destined to be born where we are, but God has given us the power of mind to utilize and correct our destiny.
Yes we do need to surrender to God, but how? This surrender will not mean, like a emaciated man will do to a wrestler for the fear of being beaten up. This surrender is a very special surrender, the type of which we have never done so far. Surrender to God means surrender to the Guru.
In our scriptures it is written that Valmiki who was a dacoit and a sinner to the extent that he was not capable of uttering the word " Ram", obeyed the orders of his Guru, who told him to utter ' mara, mara' instead, until he came back. The idea behind this unique order by the Guru was that when the word 'mara' will be repeatedly uttered, it will automatically connote the word 'Ram' which is sacred, being God's name.
Valmiki did not ask a single question like what is 'mara' and until when should he keep uttering the word 'mara'. He straight away trusted the orders of his guru and kept on repeating the word 'mara' for ages.
This man Valmiki became a saint and wrote the popular scripture, Ramayan which is history.
This is known as surrendering. Unflinching faith on the words of the Guru and unwavering desire to obey the guru's suggestions or orders. Joining one's mind with that of the guru is the actual surrender to God.

Yes, it is always better to adopt Complete Surrender before your Lord rather than worrying about anything.

That's exactly what we are supposed to do:
Matthew 6: 30-34 ""Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
32 "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Philippians 4: 6, 7-- Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Great post!
"Surrender to God" is what the creation is all about. Everything great and small, from an elctron to the solar system is obeying God, except humankind. Because God has given us free will. If we surrender to God, then we'll get closer to Him and all the problem of the world will be solved.

Total surrender with heart and soul definitely helps. I had experienced fruitful results. But, mind never allow us to surrender . It always questions the entity of super power. If we able to surpass the blockade created by mind, your question will be answered. No doubt.

You mistake the meaning of 'surrender.' Everything can be changed - just not by the learned defensive ego.

How ? and what is the meaning of the surrender to the God. even sometimes wise persons also do not know how to surrender to the God. i am not joking sir . it is my serious answer. could you tell me please. i allready asked the question before seeing your question, please answer it.
if surrender is to remain in Ashrams alone as a vairagi then i think it is not the surrender.in Ramayana when Maan Kaikai reached to the nandi gaon where Bharat was living as renuntiator , Kaikai Maan said to Bharat, son i want to live alone same as you to get rid of sin as the happiness of the kingdom are like severe pain. Bharath said , it is not possible and it is not the surrender to the God. if you really want to repent yourself then live with pain then only your sin could be finished. the renuntiator should have minimum qualification without which no one could be renuntiator.
