Should we get by with paying them very little when we can actually afford to pay them descent wages? I read where this man said he would have to close his business if he gave his employees a raise. Yet he lived in a 2 milion dollar mansion and owned a jet and fleet of cars.

11 But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. 12 For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Do YOU not judge those inside, 13 while God judges those outside? “Remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves.”
luke 16:20 about a rich man and he had very little compassion for this poor man. What was the outcome after the two men died?

Wages should be determined by professional standards. An employer needs to see what other people in the same occupation, with similar responsiblilites, education and experience make in the same area of the country. Determining wages any other way is a poor business practice, and poor business practices do not glorify God.

I think too many of the rich fail to see the consequences of their stinginess. It seems that too many companies are only interested in the bottom line and treat their employees like replaceable drudges. Then when the employees are too tired and run down to provide a decent living for their families or properly discipline their kids, society suffers because those children often don't see the value in hard work when it appears that others are going to receive the benefits from it anyway.

Greed is one of the 7 deadly sins.
God will see to this fool for his selfish decisions.
That said, it doesn't exactly pay the bills for the workers does it?
It's too bad that the greedy guy gets to live a life of luxury on the backs of his employees and then only in death will he pay for it. But since you can not take monetary/material wealth with you when you die, society needs to re prioritize what is truly valuable and this would not happen.

Anyone who puts money above God is breaking the First, Second and Third Commandments.

This was the point Jesus made to the rich young ruler, who thought he had always kept God’s commandments. Jesus showed him that he was only fooling himself because he would not part with his wealth.

There is also in James where God says that the rich oppress the poor, and will be in trouble for it. There's Corinthians where God says to believing employers, be fair with your employees.

It is easier for a rich man to pass through the eye of a needle than to get into heaven

Yes, being greedy and lying about it is a sin.

And yes, employers should recognize that their employees work hard for the money too and deserve to share in the wealth, so to speak....

why does "god" have anything to do with it? whats right is right, and what's wrong is wrong, anyone will tell you that that is wrong, no matter if they believe in god or not.

but if you really want to drag god into it, what about all those preachers that live high on the hog, but beg for money from parishoners for "missions"

Like God, the idea of a minimum wage is arbitrary.
