The drainage is probably just water from going swimming last week. The pain you're feeling is probably a result of having water stuck in there resulting in what's known as swimmer's ear. You can purchase an over-the-counter ear drop for swimmer's ear at your local drug store (talk to the pharmacist if you need help), or you could place a couple of drops of rubbing alcohol into your ear, then place a cotton ball in your ear as well - this will help draw the water out of your ear and into the cotton (may need to be repeated a couple times a day for a few days). If your ear really hurts, try motrin or tylenol for pain. Either of those should help you, if they don't, definitely see your doctor on Friday.

Hope this helps. :-)

Do you not use ear-plugs while swimming so that water does not get into the ears? Stop swimming for a while until you get the current problem resolved by a medical doctor. Meanwhile, use an ear-drop obtainable from a chemist who may be able to provide first-aid advice.

Peatea's answer made sense. I have a problem with water retention in both ears, to the point that I have vertigo problems.

One way I know this is about to act up is when I'm lying down and I can feel the water drain. I use a cotton swab to absorb the water, and it seems to help.

Do NOT poke your ear. Just gently put the tip of the swab in your ear (or use a cotton ball as Peatea suggested) and hold it in place for a minute. It might help to tilt your head that way.

In my case, I can feel the moisture on the cotton when I remove it.
