I believe you have to have a licensed adult (or just a licensed person) with you if you only have a restricted.

He must really appreciate you trying to help, but you should know that if you get caught at 15 without a driver's license and with a passenger anywhere in the car they will not give you your DL until you're 21. That of course, on top of a nice well-written ticket.
That's a high risk to take.
Be careful with whatever decision you make.

Actually you're not legally able to give him a ride, either. Statistically, studies have shown that (1) additional teenaged passenger increases the likelihood of that vehicle being involved in an accident due to driver inexperience and distractions. As a result law enforcement officials are vigilant for infractions of this nature. It seems unfair to be singled out in this manner, but this policy was arrived at through painstaking effort and grief from scraping teens off of the asphalt....a task we don't relish for obvious reasons.

If you mean you have a Permit, then you can only ride with license passengers over 18 yrs old. If you get pulled over and you are not riding legal, they can cite you and tow the car. I would definitely seek out a legal way to do this . . no since in making a bad situation worse.

Find out if you're allowed to even drive (let alone have passengers). If you're not, then don't do it. Simple. :-)

What's the hang up? Find some other way to spend time with him. If you live so close, walk or ride a bike to his house.

Why is his license restricted? Did he screw up? Find a guy who is responsible :-)

Good luck.

If you only have a permit, then you have to have someone with a real drivers license in the car with you and not someone else who just has a permit. If you get stopped by police, you'll get a ticket. Where are his parents? They should take him to school or he could ride public transportation.

I'm not sure I would take this risk! You could get in a lot of trouble not only from the police if you got pulled over but from your parents who might say to you that you cannot drive for a very long time now! Its up to you tho.

If you have a restricted license, then you must ride with an adult. You can have passengers but must be riding with an adult in the car.

Hi!
Even though you would like to help your friend..You might also get in trouble if you get caught driving..You only have a month to go..You'll be taking a big chance if a cop pulls you over!
Just be honest with your friend, and tell him the truth.
Hopefully his parents can drive him to school...
Take care Hon!

Uh, what doesn't his parents bring him home? And if they can't, why don't you ask one of your parents or older sibling, (over 18) to ride with you. Even though you are doing a favor, you don't want to screw yourself over if you get caught. Especially since it doesn't matter if he is "like" family, the cops wont take that for a valid answer.
