I don't mean extreme things like religon, but say the biological father has maybe provided information or guidence that, in my opinion could be amended or refined. Would this confuse the child or do i even have that right?

[i know there are a lot of other factors like; what is my status with the single mom, how much is the "real" dad in picture, or how old is the kid. So, for the sake of argument, we'll assume I have been dating her for a year. the father gets weekend visits every now and then, and the kid is 7.]

I would definitely get your girlfriend's opinion on this subject as well. I think for the most part, if you are dating her for a year, the child is used to you somewhat and you could probably guide him to a point. If it were a newer relationship I would have to say no, unless it was something that would hurt or injure him.

If you are supporting her and the child then you do as long as its what best for the child and not you being stubborn
