If I walk my dog around the block or if we're in the car going somewhere public, I bring a baggie. If my dog poops in a park I'll scoop it up and get it into the trash bin. But if we're out on a long woods hike (all day- miles of hiking) which we do fairly often, and my dog poops in the woods- well, I leave it there. It's unlikely that it will cause problems for anyone else and the next rain will wash it away. To be considerate of other people is the goal- in the forest I don't think the bears care if my dog occasionally poops where they do. LOL.

Being a dog owner and cleaning up after my dogs I have to disagree with you on owners cleaning up after their dogs. I complain all the time because I've see it happen all the time. Especially at dog parks - people go there thinking that the dog doesn't need to be watched so the owner goes there and chats with everyone paying no attention to Fido who is at the other end of the park taking a dump. I don't know how many times I've been out at the park walking my dogs and there ahead is someone else walking their dog and watching them take a dump and continuing on with their walk leaving the mess behind. I'd have to say that dog owners who are too lazy to clean up after their pets are the ones giving all us other dog owners a bad name.

If you have ever stepped in you should know why people complain.
As a dog owner I usually have bags with me to pick up after my own dog, and will often pick up other poo that I see - just to make it a nicer world - and help keep the people that would like to regulate were dogs can go happier.

Come to my town and don't pick up after your pet. Fines start at 40.00
Picking up after your pet is just logical. After all, you are responsible for it. It's what good people do. And it makes the area a much nicer place, instead of piles of crap all over the place. Would you want you or your dog stepping in someone elses worm infested poop? Didn't think so.

It pisses me off for a few reasons. First, it makes you get big green spots in your grass if you dont clean it up. So I end up having to clean it up because someone else was lazy. Secondly, I hate it when I dont see it, and I step in it when Im mowing my grass- or even worse, my kid steps in it and tracks it in the house. Also- when I walk my 2 dogs, I always take the time to clean up their poop from someone elses yard. That is called being respectful. It makes me angry when people dont return that respect. Lastly- my neighborhood really doesnt have any strays, so when poop is in my yard, I know it was just from some lazy dog owner.

I get irritated with ANY type of litter. As for the dog poo....I might step in it, my dogs (especially the younger one that doesn't watch where he's going) might step in it, they try to eat it, etc. I am actually one of those people that will pick up any dog poo while picking up my own dog's or while we are on our walks. And I have spent years volunteering with clean-up programs, picking up other people's trash. The people that really irk me are the one's that throw it out of their car windows. You have to be the laziest, most pig-like person on the planet to do something like that.

I think I get what you're saying. We need to blame those who know better, not the dogs. Dogs just act like dogs, and when they feel the urge they just go for it. Horse poo is worse. It might not smell as bad as dog poo, but the size of the pile makes up for it. It's hard, though, to know when your horse is "busy" while you're riding. Unless you turn around to look every few minutes, you're going to miss it.

as a responsible pet owner you should pick up after your dog, but others shouldn't condemn you for other dogs stuff. if they dont like it and its from a stray then they need to call animal control or try trapping the dog themselves and giving it over to animal control. for the person who says they dont pick up after their dog, be glad your not in my neighborhood and you dog isn't going on my lawn and you leave it their. it would be all over your front door the next morning.

Alrighty then. I have owned dogs all my life and am sick and tired of people leaving sh*t on the paths and beaches!!! I would much rather tread in someones left over lunch or rubbish than a freshly laiden cr*p!!! Hell, I would rather wade through a rubbish bin than to be walking through dog sh*t!! Come on.
