You know I was going to go of on a rant and site all the fact's of the past and current history of you "Great Britain" but it seem my fellow Americans have pretty much said most of it all. Okay, technically, the Native Americans discovered the US - I mean there were here first. However, if you read any history book you see that Columbus, an Italian, first landed on American soil way back in the 1400's, so you were NOT the first to discover the US. And, the Britons way back then wanted to leave England for a better life. So, I guess you could say any place was better than England even crossing an entire ocean to an unknown, unsettled place like America was better than Britain.

As to the actual question. Our military is many times larger than that of the UK it also has a more advanced technology base. This is not to say the UK has a bad military it is just to say they do not put a large portion of their funding into defense.
