I am asking about out of date inspection or no front plate?

This did not happen to me, but a friend I was in the car. We were on our way home from vacation and both happened with in an hour. One cop was local, the other was state. The second cop did not care to see the first ticket.

As other have said they can ticket you all day long many many times. Sure, some officers would see that you had already been ticketed and since it had been within an hour you could say in court........ I recieved the ticket and I was driving it home or somewhere to get it off of the road. The second ticket would be dropped so it's really not worth his time. But technically they can ticket you at any time as one is driving "a potentially unsafe vehicle" and could be a danger to others.

Now the no front plate thing is a different matter. The police really, really hate that for obvious reasons. That with no inspection? A lot might have depended on your friend's age, appearance or type of car. One of those sporty midrange cars or one of those pimped up Hondas? Cops figure that if you are into your car that much you can take care of inspection. Zipping in and out of traffic or blasting music. Something must have ticked the officer off as it is not usual for someone to give a ticket when the person tells them they just got one. But even if she was driving a lousy car and you guys looked like you went to prep school..... it is still legal.

Even if your friend had only one set of tickets many times if you show in court w. proof that you fixed it they drop the charge, reduce the fine, you only pay court costs, whatever. Now she could go to court for the second set with proof of the first court date, fines if any and a picture showing it was fixed and they might just drop it all.

I would think to myself though..... whats the whole point of court. Yes I could get up super early and go to two different court dates, sit for hours and get something dropped. Easy. But then again since one was state and another county the judge could just fine me anyway as hey...... the basic thing is I'm guilty. So is it really worth the time?

Both tickets are ones you can just prepay and not go to court. Don't quote me on it but I sort of remember talking to a Corvette guy and he said the plate fine was something like $25 plus $65 for court costs. The other has to be about the same.

I do know that both charges carry no points so it does not effect ones license...... points being a big deal with the new laws in VA. No points and the fact that they are not classed as a moving violation means it does not raise your insurance rates. So it's probably best to just pay the $200 and be done w. it.

Not for out of date inspection or no front plate. You would just have to show the cop the ticket and explain that you have not had time to fix it yet. No if you were speeding then you should get 2 tickets. On the news this guy got a DUI at like 4am, then at 11pm the same day got another one. I highly doubt that the police officer was like "wow you just got a DUI this morning, don't worry we will just rip this one up and call it a day"

It is not the same parking violation. One violation was observed at 8:58pm; the next was observed at 10:29pm. Two violations, two tickets. I saw a car a couple of months ago at an expired parking meter. There were more than 10 tickets under the windshield. If I speed past the cop on mile marker 250 on the Interstate, I could get one ticket. Later, at mile marker 275, I am speeding and get a second ticket. Not for the same violation. Two violations, two tickets.

Yes, you can. Go to the nearest gas station that has inspection and where is your front plate? States require 2 plates in the DC area. Cops routinely drive thru the school where my wife teaches and even gives out tickets there to employees for out of date inspections!

I was in Virgina and got a speeding ticket I was on my way home to Ohio and the police man pulled me over checked all and around the car .OK he gives me the ticket and not more than 3 mins later a different police man pulled me over for a broken tail light and I said I was just pulled over 3-5 mins ago for speeding and the officer said nothing of a broken tail light and then he gives me a ticket for arguing because I say your state wanted to make alot of money from out -of-staters.HAHA it cost me over $500 in the long run. Good luck I think they can make what they want.

Absolutely!! The first time you get pulled over, they ticket you and tell you not to drive without proper tags/plates. So you shouldn't be out driving to get the second ticket (and I hear the fine that goes with a second offense is way too much for anyone to want to spend).

Was it within a time frame that you could have had it fixed? Then probably yes, it could happen anywhere under those conditions.

If you show your first ticket to the second officer, they shouldnt be able to ticket you. Wouldnt that be double jeopardy if it occurs on the same day within a same time frame?

If the problem wasn't fixed after the first ticket then yes especially if it's from two different officers.

YES! If you are cited for this and are making no effort to correct it, then you're going to be cited for it all of the way back home.
EX: Cited for no seat belt, 2 hrs later, cited again (and again and again)
No registration/inspection sticker, cited again if you pass the inspection station or if it can be proven you're not going to the DMV for registration renewal. Cited repeatedly like this: Left home, pulled over, cited for no proof or registration (NPR). You say to yourself "I'll get it after work". You go to your car at lunch and find a citation for NPR affixed to your car. En-route to the DMV, you're stopped and cited again because you stopped at the grocery store (you have to proceed DIRECTLY unless after hrs, then you have to go straight home)
