My take:
If he asked, then (a) he knows something is going on and (b) he WANTS to know who. I would say, since he asked, tell him. If he did not want to know , he wouldn't have asked.
Besides, how long do a couple in the same social group expect to go out before everyone knows, including the ex? Unless they're doing something pathetic like sneaking around and pretending nothing is going on... And he's got to get over it - it's not the first or the last break-up he's going to have, and it's not like he owns her or gets to say who she can go out with.
The time NOT to tell is when there is cheating and he/she has no clue and did not ask. If you tell someone in that situation, the question is "why?". Most people who tell are trying to cause pain - either they're jealous, or they want to hurt someone in the triangle. they may claim they "want the truth out", but it's usually to gloat or cause pain.
The fact you don't want to tell shows that you are not wanting to hurt anyone. The only reason not to tell is if it's a one-time thing and it would be over before you told him - then they would deny it and you would look like the trouble-maker trying to stir things up.
Is she wanting you to tell because it's easier than her telling him, or because she wants you to look like the bad guy? I bet she just thinks you telling is easier than her telling him.

Yeah, go ahead. It's not like it's anything serious anyway if they're only 14 years old, since they'll probably go through 30-40 crushes by the end of high school anyway, so this one shouldn't last more than a month or so at best. Don't take boy/girl relationships serious at such a young age. Have fun and get a lot of friends instead of centering on one close friend or one boy. You'll be happier most of the time and not fretting over who's with who in the school yard this week.

He's going to find out eventually, but it should be his ex-girlfriend or his best friend who tells him. Tell them that they should tell him and if they don't after about a week then you should tell him.

If you are friends with the new person dating the ex ask them if they want to tell him, otherwise you will. If you get the go ahead you're clear. If you don't then at least you warned the new guy.

Zip the lip, my friend, being and 'informant' just makes you look like a gossip. If he directly asks you, don't lie. Lying is NEVER an option, (unless your gf asks if her butt looks big, then tell her it is perfect!!!)

i won't get in the middle of someone relationship . won't you tell your friend that she should tell him herself that she is going out with his bestfriend .. not you because it can get you in a lot of trouble.

Ask yourself this question: Would you want to know?
If my friend knew about it.. I would want them to be honest with me and tell me.

prolly, other wise he'll find out from someone that he'd rather not findout from or he'll see them together. it would be better if he found out as soon as possible.
