You should not feel upset because - he calls people sweetie it sounds as if it is just a phrase that he has gotten into that has no true meaning to him.
1) All know that if he calls you sweetie - it has no meaning'
2) you may wish to suggest to him to try to refrain from that language as many woman find it very insulting, and it will not his career in the long run

My boyfriend has a habit of doing that too except he says hun to everyone, even old ladies. It doesn't bother me because I know he is just trying to be polite, but I have notice some women do seem disrespected by it, so I have told him maybe he shouldn't say it quite as much. I thought about it and if a random guy said, "excuse me hun, do you know where the milk is?" I'd be a little taken back, he doesn't know me, therefore he shouldn't try to be so personal.

I wouldn't be upset about it. It could just be a neutral word for him and his personality. I call everyone at my job (car dealership) hun. Regardless if they are men or women and I tell them that if they don't like it just tell me and I'll stop calling them that.
But don't be upset its just a neutral word for him that he uses and before he started working there did he call other women sweetie or is this a business related relationship where you met and dated from work? Whatever it is dn't be mad.

Well, maybe its just a habit?
It doesn't nessicarily mean anything. He just sees the word sweetie as a neutral word.

Just ask him what he means by it, gently though. Don't come on all naggy. Just ask him what his definition of sweetie is ^^

i'm sure its nothing though!
Goodluck!

I wouldn't be upset about it. I call my patients "hun" and "sweetie" all the time.

Yeah, but only because it's annoying as hell.
