Here are a few of mine:

Remeber when graham crackers came wrapped in waxed paper?
Remember when Oreo Big Stuff came out? (Oh, I wish they'd come back)
Remember when you'd drink a Coke out of the squatty glass bottle and then peel off the kinda styrofoamy label in strips and put them in the bottle?
Remember when Fruit Loops were only red, orange and yellow?
Remember when the Charles Chips guy used to come to your house?

Now, what are yours? I can't wait to hear from all the different generations!!

Hey, wow, you eat bell bottoms and clad coins? Come on people, it's a question about food, not about everything you remember from your whole life!

I remember all those things - and a few more - probably “before your time” “in the olden days”.

I JUST saw your additional remarks or details: When you mention food, you mention life. I think almost eveything is "fair game". Don't you?

I remember when Coke - and A LOT of other soft drinks - came in GLASS bottles & we drank right out of the bottle. AND when I took the bottle back to the store, I got 2 cents for each bottle!

I remember when shredded wheat came in a box with Niagara Falls on the box. AND there were pieces of cardboard between the layers of shredded wheat.

I remember BOSCO chocolate syrup.

I remember when Log Cabin Syrup was packed in glass bottles.

I remember when Tootsie Roll Pops FIRST came on the market. They were A LOT bigger than they are now.

I remember when bread cost 15 cents a loaf and about every other day “the bread man” came to the door.

I remember when mail was delivered 2 times a day - every day - except Sunday.

I remember when milk packed in 1 quart glass bottles and was delivered to the house AND the cap was made of cardboard AND THE MOST DELICIOUS sweet cream was on the top!

I remember when we went to the market, to get our food order. EACH ITEM was individually priced. To bring our order closer to the cash register, the cashier pulled on a U-shaped piece of wood with a handle. THEN he/she would ring up EACH ITEM on the register.

I remember when, in the summer, Jack & Jill, the Good Humor Man and Mr. Softee would come around my neighborhood with their frozen treats.

I remember when "penny candy" WAS REALLY "penny candy."

I remember when pizza from a pizza shop cost $1.00 for a large plain pie AND 75 cents for a small, plain pie.

Thank you for asking your question. I enjoyed taking the time to answer your question. You did a great job - not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading my answer.

I wish you well!

VTY,
Ron B.

Pop came in glass bottles at my school 35 cents, it was our friday treat to have that.
Two liter pop bottles had an added bottom of black or green which you could cut off and make a little planter out if it with flowers for mothers day.
That all I can think of now but I'm sure more will come to me.

My mom wants me to add her remember whens, crackers and pickles in a barrel at the store and when you purchased them they were wraped up in waxed paper and ties with store string, a loaf of bread was the same way.She remembers when you purchased eggs at the store you had to bring your own container and put them in, they were in a big stack of about 2 dozen and people brought them in from their own farms for others to buy. She was born in 1939 so she has a few. She also remembers ice boxes with the ice block to cool it (thats kinda food related)

In the UK the first "fast food" was good old fish n chips (fries). It cost 2 shillings but a portion of fries on their own cost sixpence. We often went and got a bag with our bus money and walked home from school. Not sure what the exchange rate on the dollar was in the late 1950s Beulah

I remember the candy that we bought as a necklace and they were edible. They came on a string and you could eat them off one by one . Can't remember the name of them but maybe someone will. Also there were little parafin coke bottle shape candies that contained different juices. These were good. Thanks for the memories.
