As a christian they shouldn't. I have been fined for my stand not to do jury duty.

Yes you may.
To answer the question in your narrative you misunderstand the context of judging by Christians. All nations must have laws to abide by that include enforcement and a judiciary system. Without such remains a chaotic country and system.
We all make judgments of other people and their actions whether acceptable or not. That is called logical intelligence. If you cannot make judgments then you cannot make intelligent decisions that affect your life and others.
Christians ought to serve on juries because they should abide the laws of the land in which they live. Furthermore, if a Christian is the accused, he or she must be judged by his peers.

You are splitting fine hairs. What the Christ taught was not a commandment but a warning. If you are going to judge then be prepared to be judged. It would be better for you not to judge but if you do? Then get ready for the same, only harder on you.
He also taught to whom much is given much is required. So a wise man, or a wise woman of the legal system is required to make secular decisions in his or her community regardless of the faith they have for the Christ.
Assessments are not a judgement. Nor is it passing judgement on a criminal to punish them here and now. It is the law of the land. That has to be respected.

That isn't the kind of judgment being talked about. We aren't supposed to look at other people and judge them unless we want to be judged by the same measure. Participation in the legal system isn't about judging people's worth, it's about determining guilt or innocence of a particular crime and meting out punishment for breaking the law.

It's not a stupid question.
Taking part in the legal system is about determining guilt or innocence of a particular crime...it isn't about judging people's worth.

Rather, they are not supposed to judge IMPROPERLY...
Paul touches on this in 1Corinthians 5:12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from among you.”
OK, Context...
Matt 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in someone else’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 YOU HYPOCRITE, FIRST TAKE THE PLANK OUT OF YOUR OWN EYE, AND THEN YOU WILL SEE CLEARLY TO REMOVE THE SPECK FROM THE OTHER PERSON’S EYE.
Notice, it is not "leave the speck," but "make sure you don't have the same or worse." The meaning from the broad context is not "don't judge at all," but "judge truthfully and fairly."

Jesus said, "stop judging others by appearance, and start judging more justly". Christians are asked to judge, so long as they do not condemn someone for a misdeed they themselves are guilty of.

I thought they should be without sin to judge others.
It might be nice to have an entirely atheist judiciary and all atheist juries. Maybe then the US would finally get rid of that stupid under god and trust in god crap.
