I live in Jordan. As for all the problems being the Governments fault, absolutely a big NO. Even though there is always reform that is needed I feel many citizens do not even care about the environment they live in. It is easier to sit back and blame the King then to be proactive in the community. As for religious organizations I have not seen any doing any community service. The living conditions in some area are so bad but the people make it worse by polluting. The Pollution by the general population is horrible here. Personally I think there should be fines and more police to deal with that. Hunger will always be a world wide issue and unfortunately hard to solve. I do not think enough of us do what we can to help our brothers and sisters. Like I said it is easier to sit back and blame the king or Parliament for all the social ills.

Hi and good morning....I believe that our government on certain aspects are responsible for some of the issues as to health care, hunger and in some cases poor living conditions but there is a fine red line so do speak. What is the boundary line to raise fault and with whom. We the people have the priviledge to vote for who we want to run our country (except for a monarchy ruled countries). And with this priviledge one needs to study and do research on who the better person/s is to run the country and the government. A lot of individuals don't do this and just vote for anyone which is wrong. If you want a good strong government that is for the 'people' then one needs to vote for who they feel will be good in the position. This is where the 'people' are at fault for some of the mistakes that were made. And then again there's the problem of corruption in the politicians themselves to where they put up a good 'fake' so do speak. The government in the US for example I feel is at fault for several problems, one for example is the 'poor living conditions' due to Hurricane katrina when the government promised to assist and it took them too long in the process. Also they knew prior to the Hurricane that the levies would not hold. So this is why I blame our government on this issue. State and Federal. Now the 'hunger' issue can go both ways. The government is providing assistance for those who are out of work and have a low income but with the economy as it is today, I feel that they can do more. Now the certain individuals that are receiving assistance could help themselves by purchasing the necessities instead of 'junk food' to where it doesn't last. They need to 'stretch' what they receive instead of splurging. Now I realize that sometimes this is hard to do but one needs to think realistically when receiving a small amount of assistance. The health care issue I feel is partically the governments fault but also certain business's and companies that individuals are employed by that don't carry sufficient health care policies or policies at a reduced rate that helps those that are in need that have families or for the elderly that can't afford or are on a low income brackett. This needs to be resolved. So in my opinion it takes two to get the ball rolling in some cases. Both the people and the government. The religious organizations I have come to notice, help their own that belong to that particular church or organization. They don't always assist those out of their own family so do speak. But I agree with you that more religious organizations could assist more than what they do. Have a great day!

No, and they are not my fault either.
I voted for the right persons, I always do, but they never seem to get elected. So when things go wrong, it's not my fault nor those I voted for, it has to be those in power who are at fault.
On a more serious note, heath care, it is free here in the UK, been that way for years. And you can get treated privately if you want, best of both worlds really.
Poor living conditions, yes this is a problem. But i blame all the dodgy builders here in the UK. Now that we have proper builders from Poland coming in to the UK, houses are being repaired and built to a better standard.
Hunger, yes this is bad. Most people who are starving, do so because of local governments or militias appropriating food that is meant for the starving. Take the Sudan, there was plenty of food grown in the country, but because of the war lords, it didn't get distributed correctly, and the aid that was sent got sold on the black market.
Hunger, something could be done about it, but as long as a mere 5% of the world's population controls over 50% of the worlds resources, not much will be done until that Government changes or it's people revolt. Somehow I don't expect the American (US) people giving up on their SUV's, cheap food and cheap gas to help anyone else in the world.
So nope, not my government's fault... its those Americans (US) who keep voting their government in who are at fault.

Yes and no. I live in the UK and as many of you know it is socialist and so health care is free, its just not very good, which has more to do with drugs companies over charging than the NHS being underfunded.
Poor Living conditions are a problem which the government should tackle with the help of the private sector and charitable organizations.

Only problem I have with the government is that I think their slowly trying to steal our rights. And churches here are already doing alot and still trying to do more. Remember when they were announcing all those non for profit organizations helping with the hurricane Katrina relief? Alot of those were churches. My church has also adopted several children overseas and helps them get the nutrition they need and learn about Christ. My church has also been at work setting up churches around the country and the world, building wells in Africa and more.
To answer your question, I don't think it's a matter of them doing enough, rather that I'm just glad to be in a church that works so hard to help others.

The problems in the civilized countries are an accumulation of the attitudes of the populous. We elect the governments, we make up the organizations. There is no other to handle an issue we each have the responsibility to act as we can. that includes being a smart voter, volunteering to work toward problems in the community, or being involved in the local churches.

Because that is not a USA problem. There are problems everywhere and America can not make themselves responsible for all of them, is not only Mexico there are people from many others country that come here illegally looking for a better future but not for that the USA will make themselves responsible for fixing all problems around the world.

I think American's are doing more now than they have in quite sometime, due to the fact that many feel their country has been hijacked by corrupt politicians and special interest groups. Yes, we can do more, whether it means in our community, state or nationally. Just talking and sharing ideas is the first step in creating an environment of change, I hope we are on a path of rebirth intellectually speaking.

No, it's the voter's fault! They elected the Bush administration. They need to accept responsibility for what happens.
