I hear many people telling me to read the book. and tho i read most of it and i keep doing it, that has nothing to do with my question. The content of a book doesn't make it more or less true. understand that.

It's not the age of the book, or even the uncertainty of its authorship, that makes it a bad idea, it's the fact that people follow its precepts blindly without questioning its content. Lots of old books are filled with useful information and inspiring phrases, but we have to use our brains when reading and applying them.

The Bible is a very bad blueprint for living a good and meaningful life. It holds up ignorance as a virtue and promotes unjustified prejudices.

First of all, its "spirituality and religion", not "Christians and god lovers". its a spiritually related question so its valid. personally i think its horrible that people believe in religion at all. theres a reason why people who are more intelligent tend to be athiests, but people will do anything to protect their beliefs. my hope is some day mankind will move beyond the security blanket of the afterlife, and the big brother entity and live their life based on what they want and how they feel. another thing, just because your an atheist doesn't mean you dont have faith. i have faith, and plenty of it. faith the guiding forces of the universe, change, adaption, existence, and the coagulation of efficiency that is inherent in any system with sufficient energy (the basis for evolution, stars, thought, and society and human behavior). i think that believing that some ethereal figure appeared to us at a time where we thought the world was flat, the earth revolved around the sun, and mythical creatures roamed the world is foolish. i think believing in something that has been spotted less than big foot, and has less evidence than the loch ness monster is foolish. and i think that believing its impossible for life to evolve, because "there isn't enough logical basis", but believing a mythical timeless interdimensional being has absolute control over everything, that man can defy the very laws of physics, is ESPECIALLY foolish. i personally am quite content with my beliefs. i don't fear death because i recognize that my fear of death is a byproduct of efficiency, and my concious only as real as it is in someone else's eyes.

What I find sad is that people base their lives on what feels good and don't think of the future (results: Sexual disease, alcoholism, drugs etc.) raise their kids on Dr. Spock (his son committed suicide) and don't look at the Bible as the best path for their lives and following Jesus the ONLY path to salvation. The Bible is reliable right from Genesis 1 on.

"If I had no other data than the early chapters of Genesis, some of the Psalms and other passages of Scripture, I would have arrived at essentially the same picture of the origin of the universe, as is indicated by the scientific data." Nobel Prize-winning physicist Arno Penzias (Big Bang Theorist)

"Truth is absolute and knowable and must be searched for diligently, but many will try to hide it, deny it or muddy it." - Bia Leung.

Not if you use common sense and notice that life works much better when you follow God's guidelines. All the things He tells us are bad, are really harmful to us and to others. The things He tells us to do make the world a better place. I would have no regrets if this all turned out to be untrue.

No. It's sad to see people base their lives on contemporary books, the ones grounded in humanism and self help feel good psychology.

This claim you have expressed is based on your reading the book from cover to cover? Then it is my understanding that you are not a good reader and have complications in processing information of what you have read. This is common among those who have a learning disablility.

So what do you base your information on ancient dead men like Darwin?

Not necessarily--I do believe there are universal human truths that stay with us over the millennia. What I find most sad is that these people believe, and teach their children, that they are born into the world flawed and owing somebody an apology.

Evolution is a "theory" that the various types of animals and plants have their origin in other preexisting types and that the distinguishable differences are due to modifications in successive generations. Theories are "unproved assumptions." Do you really want to believe in something that is not 100% true? It's like believing a lie.

We as Christians know who each book was written by. It says so in each book. The Bible as you are calling just an ancient book has its merits for everyday life. Please read it and you will understand it. Better yet ask Jesus to come into your heart and you will not call it an ancient book any longer.
