Unless your dog is having a severe problem, let her do her thing naturally... She's stretching out because she's got puppies in her and it probably relieves a bit of the discomfort. You should have x-rays taken of her to see how many puppies she's got in her so you know what to expect when she's giving birth (For instance if she birth's out 4 puppies but she actually had 5... That puppy that didn't come out , or can't come out, could kill her...) Thats rare, but it is still a possibility. You'll know the day she's going to go into labor because her temp will drop significantly and she'll want to stay in her whelping box. But unless there is a problem during the labor or with one of the pups once their born, just let her do it herself, they have all the instincts to handle it... And chances are she'll have the puppies either while you're sleeping or away at work anyway, thats just what they do. When the puppies are born, let her take care of them and try not to handle them for the first few weeks or so.. and bring them to the vet if they seem sick or are not eating... If the mother doesn't let them drink make sure to buy puppy formula and make sure you feed them. They will need to go to the vet's office at around 6 weeks old to get their first set of puppy boosters and a dewormer. Your vet may recommend that they get dewormed at a younger age, it varies from vet to vet. Good luck.

Usually after a temp drop the dog goes into active labor with in 12 to 24 hours. The Vulva doesn't dilate like with humans The area around the vulva just softens up so she can pass the pups. You should be watching her very closely from this point on and have her leashed when taking her out side to potty too. Don't want her to drop a pup outside either.
Good luck!

When the temp falls the dog whelps within 24 hours. If it goes over 24 she needs a vet. In general the dog's vulva doesn't dilate until a pup is in the canal and on it's way out.

You need to severely appear at this choice! It is risky to your youngster to have one at any such young age! Also, this isn't only a strategy to get out of tuition, it is placing your existence 2nd for the leisure of your lifestyles, a baby does now not stay a child ceaselessly, it's a existence that is your responsibility for the relaxation of your existence! How would you to find any individual that is willing to father a baby with a 14 year historical just to get out of institution, that is very irresponsible! Get a puppy in the event you wanna love whatever, then you're going to see how a lot stress and work it's to maintain a residing being. When you're older, in love, and with a bit of luck married you're going to make a youngster in love so it has a stable loving home.

my tibetan terrier had six pups three days ago, and like you it was the first time. she started scratching her bed, i put some old newspapers in with her so that she could tear them up, and she started panting alot. this went on for a few hours. when she started to give birth she started to push really hard lying on her side, cried a little bit, once the first pup was born the rest were easier to be born. when the pups are born make sure the sac is broke around the pups head, you may have to do this for her. then pinch the pups nose to free any mucus, give it a rub and let mum lick it, once she does this shes accepted the pup and will nurse it. she will cut he cords herself and normally eat the afterbirths, these are nourishing for her, make sure she has plenty of water to drink because this is needed for milk production, and give her puppy food to eat because this contains more calcium. good luck

My dog just had pups. When she began labor she was panting heavily and her eyes were glassy, I knew right away because this wasn't normal panting. This was about 3 hours before the first puppy came. Get her used to the box now so she will be comfortable delivering in it.

sounds like she should go any time now--the vulva doesn't dilate- the cervix does just like in people. you should be able to tell when she goes into labor just keep her in the room with the whelping box and wait. remember-- get her spayed as soon as possible after she weans the pups

What you need to do is get her to lay down where you want her to have the pups and put down towels. Make sure she has enough water I dont think you should give her food but I guess it wouldnt hurt. Then just let her be and do her thing. Have fun with the puppies and congrats your a Grandma now. :P

she is probably in labor or will be soon but let nature take its coarse don't worry just let her be. Dogs like to deliver in privacy and can have complications if your around worrying.

Should be any time.
If you are concerned, you should be calling your vet. Why would you take health advice from strangers over the internet instead of a qualified professional?
