The Bible describes the suspension of the Earth in space.
..........................
Job 26:7
He stretches out the north over empty space;
He hangs the earth on nothing.

..................................
The Bible describes the circulation of the atmosphere.

Ecclesiastes 1:6
The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.

.................................
The Bible includes some principles of fluid dynamics.

Job 28:25
To establish a weight for the wind,
And apportion the waters by measure.

......................................
The bible includes reasonably complete descriptions of the hydrologic cycle.

Psalm 135:7
He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightning for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.

This is not intelligent? Hmm.. I'm still wondering about you skeptics. You scare me.

Job 26:7 pretty much shoots down the "Flat earth" argument. If the earth was flat, but Job said the earth hangs upon nothing.

Are you skeptics telling me the writers of the bible believed they lived on a flat disc floating freely in space? hehehe, cute.

See how I demonstrate the stupidity of Skepticism?

Lots of people say lots of things, kid. You're both cherry-picking and making something out of nothing (where the hell are you seeing "fluid dynamics" in that verse from Job?).

The Bible is also full of falsehoods. For the most obvious examples, it claims that the universe was created by an intelligent being, and that the current species were created in their current form, rather than evolving from earlier forms. It claims that people's consciousness continues after their deaths. There are countless other major factual errors in the Bible.

Your attitude isn't a good match for your limited abilities, kid.

I'm no atheist, but I know the Bible is not a credible source for scientific data.

1. The Earth hang on nothing. It falls around the Sun, meaning, it orbits the Sun. As far as "stretching out the north", I'd like you to clarify what you think that means.

2. Religious texts from India and China describe wind currents, and they are much older than the Bible. Even the American Indians knew about wind currents.

3. Fluid dynamics: take a look at the 100+ fields of fluid dynamics here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluid_dynamics#Fields_of_study Any sailor can tell you the wind weighs on a ship's sail. The Sumerians were measuring water 1000s of years before Biblical times for their irrigation projects.

4. More "science" from an "intelligent god" in his words:

Psalm 18:15 "the Earth's foundations never move"

Psalm 19:4 "God made a tabernacle (a shelter) for the Sun"

Psalm 75.3 "the Earth is set on pillars"

Psalm 93:1 "the Earth cannot be moved"

I'm still wondering if whose words these really are? God's or men with little understanding of true science....

The bible is wrong then.

Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Genesis 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

So god made light before he made the sun and the moon.

I also see no mention of the fact that the light from the moon is just reflected from the sun.

Your idea of a reasonably complete description of the hydrologic cycle is not really something that a specialist in the area would take seriously nor the principles of fluid dynamics in the bible (where is the Navier-Stokes equation?) and the circulation of the atmosphere part is very vague, why not put some equations in the bible?

Rather laughable attempt really.

lol yes I see how you twist things to fit what you want to believe.
The bible also says that the sun was created on the 4th day but "the evening and the morning were the first day".. can't have evening and morning without the sun. Plants can't grow without the sun either.

The bible also says that the earth is a circle (hebrew word khug, which is two-dimensional) and is held up by four pillars.

The bible also says that the sun was held back for a day, that bats are birds, that camels are not cloven footed, that insects have four legs and not six, that the mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds, that cattle can give birth to striped, spotted and speckled calves simply by looking at a rod, and I don't even want to get into the mathematical inaccuracies.. for a written word of the creator, it sure seems he doesn't know much about math and science.

You should be scared.. if your god can't get math and science right, what makes you think he can raise the dead or provide you with eternal life?

All that proves is that the people who wrote the Bible were aware of the science of the times. Things like the roundness of the Earth and the hydrologic cycle were known to the Greeks and Egyptians before the Bible was written.

Also, Job does suggest that the Earth was flat. According to Job, the Earth is a flat disc that is suspended by nothing. Just because the Book of Job says the Earth 'hangs' from nothing doesn't imply that the Earth is a sphere.

The fact that they claimed the wind has weight actually proves that they didn't know fluid dynamics. Wind is measured by pressure, not force. If they didn't know that basic fact of fluid dynamics their entire theory of it would have been wrong.

Here's some other good science the Bible tells us: It was possible for the universe to be created in 6 days. Diseases are caused by demonic possession. Bats are birds.

You can't cherry-pick the few things they got right and claim that proves the truth of the rest of the Bible.

The earth doesn't hang, it is gravitationally bound by the sun. It is actually falling into the sun, but because of inertia, the speed keeps it going around the sun.

So the wind continually moves around, isn't that pretty much common knowledge? I mean, even back then?

The argument for fluid dynamics is so vague it could be interpreted many ways.

"He brings the wind out of His treasuries" seems to conflict your quote about it above.

Why does the Bible say pi is equal to 3 and not 3.14? Why does the Bible imply that the world is flat and has four corners?

Everyone keeps thinking in concrete terms and forget science now says PLUTO IS NOT A PLANET

Einstein re-wrote Newton's laws. Newton's laws don't work the same in Relativsitic space.

Now, everyone here is thinking in concrete terms.

What if in some future date Man makes solar systems and decides the first thing to do is make the life planet under controlled conditions. If you fail you make another planet.

Then once you get the life working right you make a Star at the right intensity for sustaining that it the proper distance.

You have 9 planets, you terraform one and it fails, you move on terraform the next until it holds.

Designing a sun is easy. An equation for mass and burning time is easily computed.

Terraforming is an art. Something can go wrong.

How many of you plant grass and get brown spots.

How many of you grow Ferns in a green house and then take them outside and put them into the real world.

They don't alwasy survive.

Organic life is finicky.

Inorganic fussion is predictable. That's why it's so easy to make A-Bombs but not so easy to grow orange crops.

The only thing I see is how you demonstrate your own ignorance.

So out of interest if the Bible is so intelligent, how do you explain this:

Genesis 1:3-4 -- God creates darkness and light before he invents the sun.

Genesis 1:11-13 -- God creates plant life, before he creates the sun, the thing that drives their ability to grow.

Genesis 1:17 -- God places the stars in the ceiling to light the sky at night.

Sounds about as intelligent as your so called argument on the subject.

I'm sure if I could reach through the monitor and grab you then I would give you a break.... if only to shut you up.

I strongly suspect you're beyond all reason.

If you came into a pub and found one dart on the Triple-20 on the dart board.... and about a thousand or so other darts stuck in walls and furniture all over the rest of the room.... would you assume that whoever was responsible was an amazingly good darts player....... or that they just got lucky with that one shot?

Engage brain... and get back to me when you manage it.

Very sorry, but you are making a load of argumentative mistakes.

First it was the adhominem attacks, but now it is circular logic. You cannot use the bible as a source of authority for the authenticity of the bible.

If you want to prove the bible literally correct, I hope you have proof for the Garden of Eden, worldwide flood, seven plagues of egypt, etc.
