No, it does not mean you're stupid. When I first began reading,(and everyone else I know) I didn't "get" it all either.
Eventually, you will pick up on somethings. After that, even more. The pieces begin to fit. Two things I would point out though- one, it isn't just "literature," and requires thought. The other is there is a promise from God that if we truly seek to understand, we will. It must be in sincerity though.

The Bible was written in completely different cultures in languages that are no longer in use. People study it for years and parts of it are still confusing. You're not stupid, you're normal. In fact, this attitude is much better than people who assume they're experts on the Bible just because they've read it.

Not at all..it can be confusing, particularly the Old Testament. But the part of most importance (the gospel) is very simple : God loves us so he sent his Son to die for us. Through this sacrifice we can come to God, be cleansed of all sin and receive salvation.
If you are confused about parts of the Bible ask God to help you understand, it works for me!
God bless

no it does not make you stupid it makes you like the rest of us. we all find the contradictions and confusion hard. that comes from the parts written and interpetid by man applying his own spin on things . you must also remember it was written along time ago in languages that dont exist any more and they did not have some words we do and vise versa, so words were added that they hoped fit. i have many bible written by many who say thier verion is correct. what i say is faith is enough love god and belive in him the rest will come. and dont trust leaders who dont listen to you. dont trust leaders who discount your opinion and feel they do not haave to answer to yyou. the bible says they do

No it does not. I don't understand some of the Holy Bible too. But listen - you need spiritual eyes to see the things of God and then you will truly understand the Scriptures. When you receive the Holy Spirit, your spiritual eyes will be opened and you will know things of God - which will be revealed by the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of the Living God. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ - receive the Holy Spirit - Trust in Jesus - Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus - asking Him to forgive you, ask Him to come into your heart and mind, ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit - and He will dear one!!! Then you will read the Scriptures and they will come alive to you - because you will be changed, different, alive too!! Blessings dear one and I pray you find Truth - Jesus Christ - before it is too late.

I no way, whatsoever! Find a version that is written in today's language and that separates the verses that title what the section of verses is talking about.
Go to a Catholic store(even if you're not Catholic) and get the Good News bible...it's in OUR version of English, not one over a few hundred years old, and it separates the verses so it is easier to understand what Jesus was talking about.

Nope. And you ought to give the Koran a shot if you think the Bible is tough. I got through the Bible...I couldn't make out enough in the Koran to even read it all the way through.

No, you are not stupid. you cant be to stupid for wanting and trying to understand Gods word. You need to ask God to show you whatever it is that He wants you to see in the passage that you are reading. To give you insight and to help you to grow from it. You will see. Truly seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be opened. God Bless

No... you are not stupid
To understand the bible you need to understand the society that wrote it. Most documents are that way actually.
Let your first pass over it be just to learn about the people of that day... and don't be afraid to refer to other biblical period history books...
