Yes, you sound very confused . . . as we all are when confronted by such hypocracy. However, if you do believe in God, and believe that Jesus is the son of God and Savior, then you ARE a Christian. My friend's mother always had a term that I thought really hit the nail on the head: She was a garden-variety Christian. Meaning just a regular Christian, like there had been for ages. Not a Neo-Christian, or a Born-Again-Christian. Then there are the C&E Christians--the ones that show up in Church on Christmas and Easter.
Like you, I was raised Catholic (but went to public school). As I grew up, though, rational, logical thinking did not go hand-in-hand with what I was taught to believe. So even though I believe in many of the lessons (love your neighbor, turn the other cheek) I don't believe in God. I believe Jesus was a wonderful teacher, but not a divine savior.
We all have to make peace with those existential (and unanswerable questions)--why are we here? what is the meaning of life? what is my purpose for being here? Some people need/want to put God in the mix and that's okay. Some people need a label, and that's okay, too. If that's the case, maybe you're Agnostic - meaning you just don't know.
Peace! :D

I think that you are a product of your culture.
You accepted Christianity at a very young age due to peer pressure, but I don't believe you had a transforming experience or began a personal relationship with God. As you grew older you became aware of the hypocrisy of people around you that claimed to be Christian. You accepted the moral judgments of your peers and through their eyes characterized the Bible as bigotted.
Right now you appear to be at a very cynical point where are critical of other viewpoints, yet you do not have anything you truly believe in yourself.
I am sorry that you have been exposed to judgmental Christianity that is not well explained or worse, not well lived.
There is a lot of evidence for the Bible being true. The specific prophecies that we have physical proof were written centuries before their fulfillment in the Dead Sea Scrolls that are 100BC. The chance of these specific prophecies randomly coming true are astronomically small.
But I think what you would find more convincing is to see true Christianity lived out.
I get the feeling that if you could see the love and commitment of Christianity being for real, you would much prefer that over the despair of atheism. But you feel driven to the latter by lack of example and by the judgment of secularism against the Bible.
There also seems to be a misunderstanding about homosexuality and the Bible. In fact there is a bit of rebellion against any loving authority that puts restrictions on behaviour even if it is for the good of the person under that protective authority. But at the same time you feel the right and need to judge others behaviour by some standard. So I ask you, what is the basis of the moral standard that you are judging others.
Well hopefully I have given you some food for thought.

Yoz Hi i am confused. But one think that i disagree with is the hate part when does it teach us in the Bible to hate lol.... One problem that We Christians have is the fact that we don't really have a relationship with God . Christianity is a relationship was never meant to be just another Religion...
It's ok anyway just take ur time to sort out whatever is going on. i am sure Whatever the circumstance God loves u and I am beginning to like u too. Smile and really think what is the reason u got saved. Remember Your first LOVE .I wish i could talk to you.....

You hate brings you to a unhappy zone. I am not convincing you to change religious. I was Christian too during my school life. There is a tons of questions came to me in bible when I called out to priests who always had their own interpretations. I started to read others religious book including Hindru, yogaist, budhaist, Toa, and Morman. I waisted my times 20 years to go over all the religious and only Toa and Budhaist can fill my questions. Toa is good but too hidden meaning not good for new starter. Budhaist is the best. The sutras can easily leading the new starter to understand more wisdom. Alti-yoga and tantra yoga are the simular but little different. Tantra in China is the best but not easy to start up. Budhaist's sutra (Ling Yim) is a very good for new starter. Some of the sutra mentioned there was a western Budi called Jesus came for Dharmas and he went back western 2000 years ago. In bible; Christ is empty between 14-30. Jesus was according to western religious to created a newly religious for the western people and he knew he will die for this event. If he could not die for this event, the western people will not follow him of most.
In the Budhaist sutras; you will understand all the religious in the world why their hollyman said these or doing that are according to the situation and circumstances to leading their people to a happy zone. As per sutras; Jesus is really a Budhi(A kind of god) means a waken up creature. Budha said: all creatures in the world are not waken yet. Once they are waken up, they are budhas too. Budhaist not only equally to man and woman but all creatures in the world.

Our society is so greedy for labels, they have to force someone to pick a race, pick a sexual orientation, pick a religion.
Me for example. I'm 90-95% white. And 5-10% other. But, God forbid, I don't specify my race. And my sexual orientation. I am a homosexual, and practice the "lifestyle", and I like to profess that I'm gay, but some people don't want to. Should they have to? And finally religion. I was raised Lutheran, yet religion wasn't forced down my throat. Still, at age 17, I delclared that I was an atheist. At 18, 19, I dabbled in witchcraft and black magic. At 22, I was "born again", not in the usual crazy, Bible thumping way, but I was born again. I brought God back into my life - or, He brought me back into His... Now, I am a white, gay, Christian. Period. I don't need a branch of Christianity to believe. I believe in God and that Jesus died for my sins, and I talk to both of them as "friends" every day or every other day.
So, to make my ramblings end.... Why label yourself?

I also, was raised a christian. Part of my rebellion has to do with the way women are treated. Women cannot be priest, etc etc. It took the catholic church 2000 years to finally admit Mary Magdelene was not a prostitute. I do think the bible was written by male chauvanists. I also believe all religious people are hypocrites in one form or another. Not that it makes them bad, it makes them human. Oh yeah, by the way, welcome to the world of free thinking.

Sounds like you're on your way towards atheism, if you'd only study a bit more. Right now, I'd call you a Christian who is starting to realize that your belief is full of holes.
Congrats on starting to break away from your indoctrination. Now that you've realized that the religion is man-made, look more into its history and see how Christianity and other religions really came about. Also look into the nature of superstition, myth, urban legends, and other things that people strongly belief that are false.
Once you start getting a good grasp of human nature and a good amount of knowledge of the times in which the various religions were made, you'll start really seeing them for what they are.
Good luck on your journey.

Seems to me as though you've never actually taken a good solid Bible study course, but have listened to what "others" say instead of "Thus saith the Lord." If you judge Christians the way you claim that Christians judge others, of what benefit is that to you? None of us will ever have eternal life with God if we only watch man and not God.

I would say you are a nice kid with a good mind, who has never been told what the gospel is that makes one a Christian.
You are never told to believe in the God of Abraham, nor are you asked to believe in Him as your Messiah. Thats NOT the gospel, or good news that God asks you to BELIEVE in order to be saved.
The gospel of OUR salvation today is found in Pauls letters. 1 Cor 15:1-4 and Romans 4:4,5
We arent saved the same way Israel was...they were under the law of Moses and God saves us by GRACE thru faith in the finished work of Christ.
You have tried to reason out Gods Word with your own understanding instead of realizing that He gave you His Word so that you could know how HE thinks and what HIS plans and purposes are for you today, so that you can stop arguing with Him and cooperate with HIS will.
Being DEAD has nothing to do with when we will know if something is true or not. If God said it, we are to take Him at His Word...this is what saving faith is all about...trusting GOD.
Paul warns beleivers NOT to be ignorant of the truths entrusted to us BY God . We are HIS ambassadors and are to be sharing HIS words with others.
You are still serving SELF and have had little or no scriptural study to show you the importance of where YOUR mail is found. The letters written specifically TO and ABOUT you in this age of GRACE are found in Romans thru Philemon. WE have an apostle who was given words for us from Christ AFTER He rose from the dead!!
All the rest of the Bible was written for our learning, but TO and ABOUT another group of individuals that made up a NATION. They were under the law of MOSES.
God changed plans and we arent under those rules of conduct today.
If you would like a book explaining the program God is in today...email me and I will send it to you FREE.

You are enjoying the fruits of exploring rational thought.. Congratulations..
Keep it up, and when you have the mental space, seek answers to your questions through mainstream scientific principles, understandings and descriptions of the natural world. There are more answers there than you may ever have imagined, and far more profound questions than you may have ever considered.
Enjoy the journey towards enlightenment, the wisdom and humility it brings, and the huge potential for world peace and a healthier environment it offers..
Well done..!
