I guess my question is why do you want to better the world? What is your motive? For many, saying such things makes them feel good about themselves. It boosts their ego. Or it may be pure self interest, after all, we all would like to live in a more civilized world. Both of those motives are just different forms of self interest. Or do you have some other motive?
