These days you can learn how to speak French over the internet. Check out this online course, it's voted as the best French online course of all time: http://www.rocketlearner.com/french The course is very easy to follow, I was able to learn French in just 3 months.

I live in New York City, I wanted to go to a French language teacher but that would have cost me over $800 per month. Good thing with this internet, $800 it's a lot of money for me.

There are quite a few free websites which offer language tuition on line, some are interactive. You can also download material on an Ipod, or print out worksheets and reading material.
The BBC's French courses are very good.

There are others, and you can pick and mix as you please and choose material that suits you. Here is a reliable compilation of materials and sites which you can trust:

I hope you find it helpful.
Bon courage.

If you want to learn French, it really depends on your learning style! Do you learn by reading, speaking, writing or doing interactive things? For school we use limguascope, but you have to pay, its designed for teenage levels i think, but if your learning it doesn't matter. Its pretty helpful i find and there are a variety of langugages on their including, english, french, spanish and german! Hope that helps!

This guy is French and you can write him asking him things and he will reply. This is the first lesson, but he already has 10 lessons on youtube.
