If #1.... Why not assume that everyone is somehow correct (different interpretations of the same data, all valid from a certain perspective)?

If #2.... Why not assume that everyone without exception is wrong (technically it is impossible to be 100% correct about existence when the human mind is too limited to actually comprehend all data in the Universe)?

If #3... Then why do you care what anyone else thinks anyway?

Arguing isn't really necessary, believe it or not.

... Or is it just #4: You like to argue a whole lot, and it doesn't really matter what about?

{ Willhobe : That is straying close to #3. What does it matter if you're made to look bad anyway? Do you have trouble accepting your own imperfections or having them pointed out to you? It isn't an unfair judgement. }

{ John S :~ Most claims at #5 will fall on #3... as only those who think they are above the law will seek answers outside the system... At least in this case. }

Possibly number 3.... but honestly do any of them matter?

I think a person needs to have enough information to argue both sides of an issue; without that much knowledge, I FEEL, they don't know enough to debate whatever it is. I feel that the need to be right (#1) is most important; as long as you remember the point is to be right, not just maintain an idea you have, so you must be flexible, listen to others, and come to a decision you feel is the best.

You are correct, sometimes there's more than one right answer, and the right answer might change with time or situation.

1, 2, 3, and 4...Occasionally I like to think I helped some wretched mind break free of the shackles in that underground den gazing at shadows cast on the wall..

honestly it used to be all three for me when I was churched because my church was so sure it was the only true church with the only true way.

I have grown up alot since then I hope

I have to say that this is not an easy question to answer in light of comeplete honesty with myself Sometimes I would rather be right than anything still

But I dont' have a need to make others wrong now in being right myself and as for being better I know I am not

I have found my guiding principles and when I am living by them well I dont' have the feeling of being RIGHT in all caps

Just being right for my life

although I admit to feeling sometimes that this in itself makes me better than so I guess I havent' mastered humility yet

None of those senarios can be right

No one is always right

No one is always wrong....( Although with the advice they give, there are a few people in here that might offer a good arguement to THAT theory

All people are created equal, None is greater than any other

You're here. I'm here. All the other answerers are here. And all of us believe we're right.

Our rightness on issues here occupies varying levels of importance among us. Our reasons for being here might measure that importance, or it might reflect other motives.

But the honest answer from every one of us, and everyone else on the planet, would be #3.

OK. So I am right that religion is a mind disease born of fear that has brought nothing but untold misery upon the human race. Now just get the cultists to agree.

#3 - it matters to me to rise above the others and I continually try, intellectually, by my acts which can sometimes be selfless, by having pity and sometimes care for a complete stranger....

for those reasons only, care not what others say, most of it ends up being hateful garbage sometimes.

Hmm...I need a #5 - Not being a self-rghteous prick and simply trying to live my own life without forcing my beliefs on other people.
