First of all, Pagan and Atheist are two different things. Atheists do not believe in any gods, and Pagan is a broad term that usually defines a group of people who believe in an old religion before "The Big Three" (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). Also, this should not be confused with Neo-Paganism, which is a revival movement of older Pagan religions, the most well-known of which is Wicca. In the Bible, there is no specific date given for Christ's birth. Also, there are no actual contextual clues as to what time of year he was born. So, when early Christians were choosing the official date to celebrate Christ's birth, they chose an already well-known Pagan holiday (usually referred to as Yule in Neo-Pagan circles) that would send messages of hope, love, family, etc. to their converted followers. That's why mid-winter was chosen, because that was usually a time for celebrating family for pagans. That's where the Christmas tree and the gift-giving ritual come from -- the old pagan traditions. As for Easter, the date does have contextual clues for the specific time of year (something about a certain flower being in bloom, I believe, but I don't remember specifically), but that date also happened to fall around the same time as another Pagan holiday, the coming of spring. This is why Easter is usually celebrated non-religiously with eggs and bunnies, as those were symbols for a springtime celebration. So to sum up, I wouldn't say that they were "stolen" as many Neo-Pagan followers would have you believe. They were more "borrowed" or "adapted" to ease the transition and conversion for pagans from their Pagan religions to the new Christianity.

And if you rearrange the letters of God you get dog. What great revelation does that give you? Why do you even care if other peoples' children believe in Santa? Would you like it if I told you what to have your children believe? By the way there was no damage done when I figured out that Santa didn't exist. Also, if you want to be really exact, don't celebrate Christmas in December. Celebrate it in late March or early April because that's really when Jesus was born.

My child knew that there wasn't a real Santa by the time he was 5, because he asked.. And I was honest. The same goes with "where do babies come from" and other questions. I am as honest as I can be without breaking his innocence. In my home, Santa is a fun story, Not to be told as bible truth or to be shunned and forced away like a sin. Communication, not judgmental ignorance in the key to growing a spiritually healthy child.

Bless your heart. You said don't say it does no harm. Well my son is 25 years old and he has done fine. He had Santa at Christmas and he was taken to church regularly as a child he is now grown and he fully understands that Santa was fun and Christ is his savior. Lighten up.

Did Santa never bring you the Weenie Whistle you always secretly wanted when you were a kid?
Is that why you hate him and feel this need to paint a harmless fantasy involving toys and happy children and a demonic excercise?
I feel sorry for you.

Good question, as a follower of Jesus I do not celabrate christmas,or lie to children about santa, or believe in the easter bunny(Or eggs).
Christians who do this are very stupid.
We (followers of Jesus) must stop all these religiousness and get real with God.

Santa Clause is not Satan in my views.
Santa Clause was a pagan child's fairy tale.
It was taken from Pagan beleif of a man who traveled to children's houses and placed money and favorite foods in their stockings if they were good. If they were bad he would give them coal. So they could light the fire for the gods to give thanks and ask for forgiveness for being a bad child.

I Agree 100%. The bad part about it is that it does in fact create trust issues between parents and children. If a child takes you at your word and discovers that you deliberately lead them astray, how are they to simply carry out any instruction you give them without hesitation or second guessing? Your child deserves the truth. Your child will have just as much "fun" during the holidays as any other child, they'll just know the truth. Also, why down play Jesus? Why do we have to take Jesus out of this Celebratory equation? Is He not the sole reason we celebrate this day? Though it's the wrong time of year, symbolically it's all about CHRIST! CHRIST---MAS! A Gathering and ceremonial celebration for CHRIST!
Also, please don't expect people who are unsaved to understand or truly accept the part of your question about being satan or being deceived by Him. They believe WE are deceived....Heaven will tell the Tale.
