I recieved in the mail statements in a case against me.There is alot of things wrong with the statements made. The deputy said I destroyed evidence by burning it.Problem;another man admitted to burning the evidence. The voluntary statement written by the only witness to the alleged crime said the statement he wrote is not the one I have in my possession.Problem;he said things are missing or ommitted and he didn't do it.Also the items I was said to have stolen, another individual addmitted to stealing. The item in question was found and the sherriff's dept. knows where the items are at but refuse to go get the items. What can I do?Is there anyone I can call to investigate the deputy and the sherriff's dept? How do I get them to leave me alone?

Your lawyer should handle all of this. If you don't have a lawyer, and a case has been brought against you, then you need to see the judge as soon as possible. Your lawyer will then take a deposition from the witness, stating that the statement he wrote doesn't match the one you have.

Once again, get a lawyer. The courts are required to give you one at no charge if you can't afford one.

Usually, the Officer will have the statement notarized and then will give you a copy. If the statement wasn't notarized then usually it will not hold up in a court of law. If he swore to it and the deputy is a notary (Officers usually are) it is good. Doesn't the person that wrote the statement have a copy of what he wrote? Is the statement that was made notarized? Is there a chance that the person who wrote the statement is now lying his butt off to you and really did write those things. (this is usually the case you know) I hate to say it since everyone got a thumbs down for it but you REALLY need a good Defense Attorney. I'd call one if I were you.

This is a common practice.

If the police have identified you as a bad apple they are going to make your life a living hell. You were there when the steeling was going on and did not stop it. They want you gone. Leave town and quit hanging around with low life's.

Do not listen to the BS you here from these Wikipedia readers. Plea bargain and get away from that crowd.

Tell them you want to plea bargain. Tell them the truth and move someware you can find friends who love Jesus not drugs.

I'm sure the witness who wrote the statement would have admitted to implicating you in whatever you were accused of, if you asked them. Obviously the deputy, who has no personal stake in the outcome of the case, had to have altered the report, just to screw you.
