I want to buy a playstation 3 but ive been told you need a hd TV to play it on or is this not true?

I've got mine on an old CRT and it looks great. You can get cables for pretty much any TV, and if you have a PS2 you can use the cable from that.
Some set-ups will obviously look better than others, but a HD-TV isn't a necessity.

That is not true you can play without a HD TV but if you have a HD TV you can be able to maximize the resolution that the PS3 can reach and if you buy a HDMI it will enhance your gaming experience.

a ps3 will play on any television with phono (RCA) inputs-however as the ps3 is a native high definition gaming console you do need an HD TV to appreciate the full capabilities of the machine.

nope. the ps3 can play with the red, yellow, white cable. the regular cables. hd tv is only if you want it to be the best picture quality available. ps3 can be played on any tv

tell those guys to bury their heads .the ps3 or xbox 360 will play on any tv's as long as u have the cables that come with it

itll work without an hdtv but for optimum graphics an hdtv with an hdmi cable is required. the graphics are still significantly improved from the ps2 even w/o the hd.
