Cleary they cannot, if they could you and I would not be atheists.
Let them slumber.

It's a scientific fact that you can't get something from nothing. Something had to have existed before the Big Bang. That does not prove that there is a God, but most scientists accept that the Universe was set in motion by 'something'. The word God is sometimes replaced with 'Nature' or 'Chance'.
Evolution teaches us that life began because of a series of highly improbable accidents. Many atheists will state that 'evolution' is fact. This is not the case. All the bones that have been unearthed that are said to prove evolution could fit in a coffin. This is not what we would expect from millions of years of evolution.
The laws of the Universe and basic biology scream 'creation' and 'design'.
The Bible is said to be a book written by men, which is true, but the Bible claims to be inspired by God. Evidences of inspiration are as follows:
The Bible, while not claiming to be a scientific textbook, is accurate when it touches on science. The order of events in the creation account of Genesis, is generally how science teaches that things happend. The dimensions of Noah's ark are still used in modern naval engineering, just a lucky guess on Noah's part?
While nations around Israel had many theories about the earth and the Universe, the Bible already contained scientific fact, eg. The earth is hanging on nothing, not supported by giant elephants revolving on a turtle. The earth is a sphere, not flat. The water cycle, water does not spill off the edge of the planet. The Bible even mentions the embryo in Psalms, the psalmist must have had great eye-sight since this was before the invention of the microscope!
Then there is prophecy. Since you do not want Bible quotes, I would recommend looking up about the city of Tyre. The prophecy of that city is still being fulfilled to this day.
The apostle John spoke of time when men would ruin the earth. It is amazing how he knew this many centuries before the industrial revolution and the every-day use of the car. Only now are politicians and scientists taking seriously how much damage man has done to the planet.
Historians agree that a man named Jesus walked the earth, he is a real historical character. Many of the prophecies surrounding Jesus could not have been influenced by him, such as the place of his birth, his bones not being broken, his clothes being gambled over, etc.
Although the Bible was written by some 40 different men from different backgrounds, different areas, who lived at different times, it is still harmonious. It does not contradict itself as some have suggested. Those who say this merely repeat what they have heard others say and have simply not investigated the matter fully.
The very fact that we have the Bible today adds weight to their being a God. There was a time when people were burned at the stake for possessing a Bible nevermind reading it. But the Bible has survived all that opposition, which is what we would expect of God's word.
This is perhaps more words than you expected, but there is such overwhelming evidence that there is a God that it is difficult to leave anything out.

Life comes from life for a start also the fact that this world is just in the right position to sustain intelligent life . Also we have the miracle of the human brain far far greater than any computer . There is also our conscience and moral law and Agape love( unconditional love) and to protect the vulnerable and weak which contradict the Darwinist standard myth of the "survival of the fittest". There are many more but i don't think it will change your view as most atheist sceptics you want a grand visible evidence and it just does not work like that there is a thing called faith which most atheists don't grasp or won't accept. Try to look all the views with a open mind including the claims of the Gospel you might be surprised.

Evidence is prayers answered when uttered! Often in ways that are not normally possible!
I was in awful circumstances wanting to move into my own accommodation but with older people having suffered serious abuses by younger people in shared accommodation.
I had prayed and prayed for nearly 3 years (God's timing is perfect, we are sometimes impatient!). One day about 7 weeks ago I fell up the stairs and muttered a prayer along the lines of "Please God, you know I need somewhere else, please do something."
Council accommodation in my area (and I guess all over the country) is severely lacking. They also do not give other kinds of accommodation to singles. I was told by them to go and get pregnant. I was also told that I would have to wait another 15 years for older peoples accommodation.
Anyway, after this fall I went to church and prayed some more and then forgot about it.
When I got back from there there was a memo asking me to contact someone about a flat offer!!!!
Not only did I get a flat in a block totally dedicated to older people, but I also got a 5th floor (lovely view over God's creation!) flat, but it has 2 bedrooms! Yay! Now I can have a study *** library *** spare room for guests! My cup runneth over! He restores the years of the locusts!
Only God can do all that in such a way. I make no apologies for quoting slightly the Bible.
My God lives!!!

The whole, miraculous, wonderful universe with all it's diversity of life is enough proof for me. Even if it all started with the 'big bang' who created the matter to cause it in the first place? I have no doubt about the existence of God, and even without the Bible I would still feel the same. Even primitive peoples who have never heard of any of the Holy books have concepts of God. God is written into our subconscious and racial memory.

Hello there. I'm a seventh day Adventist christian And from what I've studied in the Bible, the bible actually teaches that you cant prove the existence of God and that is one of the things that we as Christians have faith in, hence the term religious faith. However there are things in the Bible which prove that the bible is a reliable book, I could go into that if u like.
To be honest the fact that we cant prove Gods existence yet millions of people around the world still live there lives serving God with such passion amazes me and inspires me to continue with my faith in God.

Prove he doesn't exist!!
Give me a logical reason for why we cry, we laugh, we love, we hate.......why we have feelings and we are not like any other animals?
Why I woke up after a 2 hours coma(after falling in my head) with no fractures or other complications, like nothing ever happened?
Why did I survived Scarlet Fever without proper treatment(my mum couldn't afford it) in a hospital when many others died??
Why have I just stopped with no apparent reason before being run over by a car?(witness said I just stopped and looked behind me)
Why I feel like somebody is watching over me in my hardest times and always things end up ok?
I had proves that God loves me and I don't need to give you explanations of my believes and opinions....
But you should at least try and answer my questions....

Having seen what I considered a Miracle happen where a young boy was healed of his paralysis in Holyhead many years ago, even the sceptic would have second thoughts.
Yes, I knew the boy and I was there in the Town Hall when two Pastors of the Elim Church prayed for his restoration and my God listened.
I don't need any more tangible proof but I can understand every other point of view and do not criticise any Religion or the Atheist.

Nicely put, but impossible to answer. If the clouds opened and God stuck out his head and said "Hey Monty I exist", Like me you'd probably question your sanity. The more enlightened believer wouldn't go near this question, they know it can't be done.
However, it's got great entertainment value.

I'm not a Christian and don't follow any other religions either but I'd say the proof of a higher power is evident in everything. But that's just me. :) I see the life energy in people, animals, nature . . . and I breathe. How do I breathe? Why do I have thoughts at all, if I'm not a conscious being- and where did my consciousness come from? Why can I see and perceive and have feelings? Even if I couldn't describe 'God' as I see it if you paid me a billion bucks, it doesn't matter. It's life energy, for lack of a better term.

Isn't asking me to prove God exists without using the Bible (or other religious writings) or religious sources kind of like asking you to prove the existence of the atom without a science book or an electron microscope?
Please, without using any books, supposition, standard phrases, or scientists, prove that electrons are negatively charged, or that evolution is the origin of man, or that the universe is expanding.
Can't do that either, can you?
