Barmouth is a good seaside town, nice drive there, takes about 2hrs (I live in Halesowen, Birmingham)
Has long beach, funfair, shops and you can always head from there around Wales (Portmadoc, Ffrestiniog, Snowdon, Aberwythwch...) apologises for spellings. And if youve ever heard of Shell Island campsite just up from Barmouth. Go for the sunset.

The North Wales coastal resorts are still very popular with people from the Midlands, particularly as the journey via the M6, M56 and A55 is now motorway or dual carriageway all the way in some if not all cases. And you can still take the other routes if preferable. My favorite is Llandudno.

quickest seaside resort is weston super mare. Used to go there all the time as a child, it takes about an hour and a half. there is a huge beach, lovely pier, donkey rides etc, but you may not see the sea as the tide goes out a long way. dont bother with brighton!

Brighton is about 3 hours (180 miles). You could try Great Yarmouth which has good sand, amusements, pleasure beach etc etc. It is about the same distance and it avoids the need to use the dreaded M25

What are you looking for? Sand dunes or fun fairs? Hunstanton in Norfolk has both. South beach is rock, candy floss and arcades, the north beach, Old Hunstanton, has miles of golden sand backed by sand dunes. Long shallow beach so safe for kids, though they still need supervision. Don't take inflatable boats, rings etc. They are dangerous.

The easiest and quickest place to get to from Brum is Weston - but its not particularly nice! How about North Wales - Barmouth is quite nice.

Hello, I love near Birmingham, I love to go to Black Rock Beach at Porthmadoc (I think thats how you spell it). The beach there is huge, pretty quiet and you can take your car on it too! Its mostly up the A5 too!
