I just had my gall bladder out. The doctor did it by laproscope and I went home the same day. I was back to worrk in a week. I had 3 little bandaid incisions on my belly and one is in my belly button, so you can't see it very well.
You sleep mostly the first 2 days. The pain medicine helps a lot. You don't feel like eating, but drinking fluids helps a lot.
She'll do fine, as long as mom does. lol
good luck

I had mine removed about 14 years ago. Best thing I ever did! They started with the new (at that time) lazer surgery, but something ruptured with me, very rare, so they had to do the old fashioned where you get a big scar.
She will want to watch what she eats after the surgery. Keep a log of what she eats and when. Because she will find that some foods she has eaten all her life, she will not be able to tolerate anymore. If she gets a really BAD stomic ache, see what she ate last and don't eat that food again. I wish someone had told me this! I only found 2 foods that made me sick. But, I liked them and ate them alot which means I got alot of BAD stomic aches before I figured it out. And don't eat hard to digest things like pizza, cheese, Doritos, corn, etc.....for a few weeks after. And, after surgery, when getting up from a setting or laying position, hold a pillow in front of your stomic. I don't know why or how it helps, but it does ALOT! Hope this helps. Good luck.

My husband had his taken out a number of years in the past. he's so satisfied now that he does not have discomfort from those darned assaults he had before the operation. sense extra constructive, Amy! i'm specific it is going to all circulate properly and you would be lower back "answering" with us somewhat quickly! Edit: My husband has NO issues of his abdomen because of the fact the operation. It grew to become right into a astonishing ingredient for him, because of the fact the gall bladder assaults have been disabling and because then he feels great. do not hear to those yoyos.

I work in a hospital and have taken care of women who have had their gallbladders removed.
If your daughter is relatively healthy, they may be able to do the procedure laproscopically, which would only leave a few small incisions. The patients recover quicker from this type of procedure than the open procedure.
Tell her to expect some pain with either procedure, and to allow herself about a week to 10 days to recover completely (but they won't keep her in the hospital that long - 3-4 days max).
Good luck!

Both my mother and grandmother had their gall bladders removed successfully. They both ate carefully and had no further problems. That was a while ago now, surgery is a lot safer anyway, I'm sure your daughter'll be fine.
Best of luck!
