To be honest, I have no problem with anyone believing whatever they want, I'm just curious about this.

Okay, Jesus allegedly died to be a human sacrifice so that God could forgive mankind for their sins. But if Jesus is God doesn't that kind of negate the point to it all? Basically it's saying that he had himself martyred so that he could forgive mankind, what exactly was acheived from himself not-actually-dieing and ascending to heaven after his non-death.

I know that some people say that Jesus died so that he could go to hell to fight the devil for us but, again, if he was God why would he need to go through the process of being born, living a life, dieing and going to hell when he could surely just go directly there.

All I'm saying is if Jesus is God then he made a helluva huge thing about it. And what's with Judas killing himself if it's what was meant to happen? Why is he cast in a bad light when he was apparently doing God's work by leading him to death?

Thanks

I'm afraid I have to raise an eyebrow. Most of you are showing that you believe this 100% without understanding the backwardness it implies.

As someone pointed out - "God sacrificed himself to himself to please himself" that's how stupid it sounds when you simplify the wording.

Those are logical questions that deserves a logical answer. The truth is that Jesus is not God. He is subordinate to his Father. The Father/Son relationship itself denotes that God the Father is higher than the son he created. Jesus himself never said he was God. But God has always made it know that He is God. Isaiah 43: 10-13.
It is not possible for God to die. He is life. Life is in Him. It is true that we have gained life through Jesus Christ's shed blood of righteouness, but we can't have life without the One that created him. That is his Father, his God & Creator.

Dear Puppy,
There is nothing that God is not sure about. What ever God does it is done for our benefit. There are many strange ways that has been put foreward as to why God became a man in Jesus; one of which is that Jesus was a ransome for man's sins. Another way of putting it is 'to atone for our sins'. This falls way short of a proper explanation although it is a great favourite with religious leaders. The New Testament has other variations of the "Why" of God's action.

Broadly speaking the heart of the reason why God has gone to all the trouble is to show His desire to become intimate with humanity; just break up the word atone and you get 'at one' - with us. How intimate is that - to become one with his beloved humanity? This is before we have done anything to deserve it - God didn't count our short commings (sins) but took it all on board. St Paul compares the sin brought about by one man Adam which brought death to all mankind, with the gift of redemption of all mankind by the good favour offered by God (grace), through the one man Jesus Christ.

God has an unconditional love for all humanity - even before humanity even acknowledges it. When a person wakes up to this reality it is a most awsome thing. When you imagine God's greatness and humanity's puniness one would say. 'What is really mankind for God to be so mindful of us'.

With all due respect to many clergymen and well meaning fundamentalists - stop having hangups about sin and hell fire and celebrate the fact that God has adopted us irrespective of whoever we may be or whether we are; righteouse or full of sin. God does not calculate our sins and shortcommings but awaits keenly for the moment when we wake up to His reality and the promise of being able to share in His life. Good News in deed because everyone is bound to find this out eventually; God will go for whatever it takes for as long as it takes, here or the here after.

Peace

Remember, you have to have a correct understanding. Yes, Jesus is God in the flesh. Jesus had to come to show us ( humans) how God wanted us to live. God had given Moses the law to teach the people, but even with that people still sinned. They did what ever they wanted without regards to GOD. God knew that in order for people to see how he truly wanted them to give, he put on flesh and come down. Jesus made a huge thing about how he was GOD, to show the people that GOD knows about all their problems, concerns, wants, and needs. Jesus showed the people that throughout all of their situations, there still is a right and wrong way to conduct yourself. I could go on and on but if you really want to know more just contact me.

It would mean he is dead and that don't make any sense
I am sure there is some turd of Jesus on the earth somewhere and May Allah SWT forgive for saying it like that but I am sure he was what they say all but this split three and all but this one son AstugfarAllah Azeem Kabeeran every time they speak of that its like they shattered the heaven in half.

Look at divinci painting of the last supper, he is talking to Judas, Jesus is. The plan is Judas never did turn him in he turned himself in as Jesus. And that man you see, that is Judas not Jesus because the lord will have none of this nonsense and his prophets are all protected Al hamdoullah.
Look at every prophet none of them ever perished none! hmm why would he, that’s is just all and all out plain ignorance to the highest degree known to mankind intelligence that is why many people don't believe it and they just "BLIND FAITH IT"

Now look at what divici painted after that last painting of the last supper, he painted nothing but heaven and hell. So he must have seen something in that day he was there painting and so must have you all but it surely was not a son, or split three, it was just a man with special things, and he was a man ate sleep and drank and I need not eat his body or soul or blood cause the lord said that is not something I can eat!
So it’s all proven to logic totally impossible and the lord has left us proof of all things why would he leave out this magic mystery.

It’s a plan from the devil and those people where so bad and so corrupt it was unreal! Jesus had to go, they where in hiding always and if it wasn't for Peter making wrong to Judas who hung on the cross, and then he would have gotten away too. They say Judas turned Jesus over for a dollar or two hahaha ya right, whisper in my ear I am going to screw you later! TISHA no way we are not even going there!

The bible is a riddle of devils work, and there is very few things left inside there that are even worth looking at anymore.

Muhammed SAW said to one of his friends "surely if Moses and Jesus where here, they would never look at those books" And it was said it was one of the most disturbed signs on his face and he was of the most kindest humans, the best example for us was Muhammed SAW and then Abraham and Adam and then Jesus maybe Moses did way more for them A.s. but all of them didn't even want peace they just kept taking and pushing and splitting and now we have as I listed many times so many versions have a look.

I don't believe that Jesus HAD to die. In fact, if I were to believe that, then the entire concept of free will would go right out the window.

Jesus was, according to Catholic belief anyway, both purely God and purely human at the same time. Why would God do that? God loves creation so much that God wants us to understand His message or love within the context of our own humanity. God finally came among us as one of us to speak directly to us (more or less, Trinity theology here) out of love. People could have listened and followed; people could have just dismissed Jesus; people could, and did, turn him over to the political authorities for death.

Back to the first quesiton... In order to be purely human, Jesus had to have free will. He was free to preach the message of God's love, free to take a stand and, yes, free to run and hide. For Jesus to back down or deny his teachings, he would have had to "betray" God and himself and that's a theological mess for another day.

The community of followers that developed after his death and resurrection put down their understanding of all this as best they could, the earliest followers doing so out of their Jewish culture. What many theologians would say today is that Jesus, as a human, died and was resurrected from the death, braking the chains of death and the eternal hold that sin had had on people.

They are 2 different individuals. Look! Jesus was sent into the world by God. John 3:17 "For God sent forth his Son into the world, not for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him."

I do not know why people are so confused about God our Creator.
God is God,how come He can be less then a God.
If an engenier makes a VCR, and some thing goes wrong with that VCR, so that enginier has be convert him self as VCR, then he can repaire VCR.
NO, enginier will remain Human enginear and he can repaire VCR,using his knowledge.

Same way God do not need to become humen to know and remove problems from human.

God Almighty will remain God.

Tragic misconception. Jesus wasn't a human sacrifice, he was the ultimate sacrifice. God in the flesh, innocence. Jesus never sinned, He didn't have original sin in his blood.

Jesus DID die, He was resurrected 3 days later so...well I don't know why. But He was, He showed the holes to his disciples, founded His church, etc.

Jesus didn't die JUST to fight the devil. Jesus just went down there when He died because He couldn't go into the spirit world while He had a human body....He didn't fight the devil for humans, He went there to get the key to Hell.

As for Judas, I personally think he should be a Saint...I know I'm gonna get crap for this, but I do. Without Judas Jesus wouldn't have been arrested, He wouldn't be tortured and killed, and He wouldn't have been resurrected.

Judas has been, and will be, seen as the devil in human form...evil. He sold Jesus for 30 pieces of silver...

Jesus gave people infinity chances to submit to God. they refused. If God had sent a billion more prophets this would have continued.

Prophet Muhummad arrived. He gave peace. He was the final prophet. Perhaps he learnt that if he gave infinity mercy he too would die without giving the message, resulting in almost all of humanity to suffer. In order to defend his message, he had to fight the disbelievers who tried to kill the believers, which will result in more people being saved from hell.

Read the Bible part about Jesus and his sword. Even christians acknowledge they will participate in holy wars.

EDIT: The penalty for death is murder. So if Jesus did die he will have to do a lot of killing in accordance to the bibles laws.

Old testament- you had to follow God's laws to get to Heaven.
God knew after years have gone by without him being on this earth man would be doomed so he made a way to be forgiven by our faith and his grace, I for one am glad he made that way, if you read the old ways it was very difficult to get to Heaven and I don't think anyone today would make it there, So he sent his son to show us the way, that gave us free will and choice just by believing and giving ourselves to him.Jesus paid our dept
